I haven't tried NetQin - i was all set to after your recommendation, but some google results about it bundling malware and then charging for removal popped up.

It was a while ago, and i only just signed up here, but it'd be worth investigating. I think the article also said Nokia had removed them from their online market, but my memory is fuzzy.

That put me off NetQin, and you put me off Zoner, so I went with webroot, which seems lightweight so far.

Go with DrWeb, avast! or Norton. These 3 seem to be the best bunch of the free ones. Imo.

    NetQin never does this.
It's one of the oldest security company in the field of smartphone security and I cooperate with them a lot on my security blog. :)

    Hey pykko,
Can you test the latest Avast Mobile Security against your android malware samples and post the results.
I'm 100% sure many wilders members are waiting to see the results.

    Regards,

I installed NetQin from the Android Market.

    I immediately uninstalled.

There seems to be some fishy business about charges, that are unclear.

By all means charge for your services. But dont trick and mislead people about it.

It seems Im not the only one, looking at the ratings on the Android Market who noticed this.

Of course, we have already tested it.

Avast detects 173 out of 181 Android malwares, being the second now on our test chart.
Of course, our malwares are already one month old so the test can be less relevant now in a way.

We've tested Avast! on a newer sample (from 8 december) and it was detected. By contrast, NetQin didn't detect it.

I'm using NetQin for about 3 months now.
    What charges are talking about?
I will contact them and request some explanations and post them here.
    Give me some more details.

You're really running an AV on an HTC Wildfire S? :D
Is it a drag on your cellphone?
Currently i have an Galaxy S II Int. and i feel i need every single bit of juice it has. (Stock Firmware - Android 2.3.4) :D

Not the Wildfire S. I'm using the normal Wildfire which is even weaker.

I wish the tester, if possible, refresh the data in his site (and add new engines, like avast that already run the test).
