My friend said that Avast told her it scanned a certain about of pages after avast updated on start up. And offered to scan the pc. Has this happened to anyone else? I never heard of this before. The alert was orange.

  2. Never happened to me nor heard of. That doesn't sound like Avast, are you sure that's a real Avast?

What's the URL? PM if you have to. Is it the browser home page?

Not sure about that offer to scan, but yes, it could be the monthly report (configurable in program settings).

That is kind of strange as I have monthly reports checked in the PopUps section of Settings but I have never seen a report pop up.

I'll see if when it pops up again if she can take a screen shot. I'll also see if I can get more info.

It depends on when the free version was registered or the paid license applied.
It also depends on balancing the 180+ million users of avast getting that report.
At least, this is what I've read in avast forums.

It told me that numbers of webpages had been scanned in last 30 days. Want to know how many infections? Find out now. Am I safe?

I saw this today myself, and I know I have a legit install. I have no idea what it's all about, but I'm starting to get used to Avast adding things here and there and changing things around.
