Is IE9 slower than IE8? Last I tried to make the switch IE9 was a lot slower. I wanted to investigate first.

IE 9 is not slower for me but you provide little info about OS or your system in general.

Definitely not. Must be some problematic add-on. Try removing or updating all of them.

Microsoft Answers would be a great place to start asking the experts on IE 9 questions and issues.

I must say that my IE9 64 bit is very fast compared to IE8. I'm miffed because I can't run IE9 on my Vista 32 bit notebook. The only extensions I have are Speckie & WOT. Neither seem to slow IE9.

@Rilla927, could it possibly be an adblocking/filter conflict?

IE9 should be much faster than 8 but the one thing I do hate about it is sometimes you can't tell if it is doing anything. It will sit there like nothing is happening then all of a sudden a page will load.

Thanks guys, I wanted to see what the wilders clan had to say.

Last time I installed it, it was much slower than IE8 but that was some time ago. Pages took a lot longer to load.

Thanks Siljaline for the link. Buy the looks of that link I think I will stay with IE8.

Overall, I find it faster than IE8. However, I notice that certain specific websites (e.g. links to articles at the National Post website) make my whole computer freeze (on Windows Vista). It's annoying and I don't remember that happening with IE8, but it doesn't happen too often as long as I don't visit those websites (e.g. National Post).

    Hi,

You're welcome for the Forum link, many (including me) use IE8 and are perfectly happy.

    Regards,
