Thanks for your help. I did what you suggested. I also posted in the Emsisoft forum and got a reply here: http://support.emsisoft.com/topic/6686-cant-stop-popups-using-surf-protection/

    Hey guys!

I´ll be getting some copies of EAM and OA myself, it´s a HUGE discount! Can´t miss out!

But I´ve a few questions, maybe someone can help me out!

1 - Does EAM and OA works side-by-side with sandboxie without issues (Firefox/Chrome/etc.)?!

2 - Anyone has any experience on how EAM and OA works with Atom Netbooks? Too much for the poor machine, or should I go ahead an give it a try?

3 - Regarding licensing, how EAM and OA licensing works, I mean, if I buy 3 licenses (example), they´ll start count from my purchase date or when I activate each one? I mean, with 3 licenses, can I use one license this year, the second one next year, and finally the third one in three years from now?

    Thanks!!!!!

I was wondering the same thing as I'm thinking of buying two licenses for two years.

I'm pretty sure they start counting from your purchase date.

I'm pretty sure most of the licenses have a period for activation, if they are not activated during that period the license might expire, though i'm not really sure how it works with Emsisoft licenses. :D

The new bought license codes must be activated/first used within 10 months from purchase date until they expire.

This anniversary promo is for 1 year orders only. Our main intention is to get our name spread and to find new customers. On the long run I guess no vendor could survive with a regular annual price of $8. ;)

So does Emsisoft replace my AV or does it works alongside in real-time?

e.g. Currently PandaCloudPro and othertimes Eset V5 AV.

    Until Version 3.5:

No, Emsisoft Anti-Malware 3.5 was a complementary program to antivirus tools. It was specialized in finding and removing Trojans, Backdoors, Spyware, Adware, Worms, Keyloggers, Bots and Dialers.

    Since Version 4.0:

Yes, with the integration of a second scan engine, Emsisoft Anti-Malware became a full tool against all types of harmful software, including all types of Viruses.

It doesn't use any random scan engine, but two world class products: The Ikarus Anti-Virus- and the Emsisoft Anti-Malware-Engine. Independent tests confirm both top positions in the recognition of Viruses, Trojans, Backdoors, Spyware, Adware, Keyloggers, Worms, Bots, Dialers and TrackingCookies.

    Yes.

Emsisoft Anti-Malware was originally designed to be a complementary product to antivirus- and firewall software. Today it is no longer complementary, but instead a full replacement for any antivirus software. Anyway it's still compatible with nearly all other programs.

If you encounter a problem in combination with another program, please tell Emsisoft team. They will solve the problem as quickly as possible.

Please note, that you should turn off other resident guards while running a scan with Emsisoft Anti-Malware. Other guards would check each file twice and the scan would take very long.

Can someone clarify the caching arrangements? I'm aware Version 6.0 includes some form of caching to reduce scanning or previously scanned files. Is this a system where the file is scanned only once and marked as good or is it a system where the files are re-scanned after each definitions update? If some kind of combo can the rules be explained?

    Thanks

The cache saves information (hashes) from known trustworthy files detected during the scan. Not from unknown files that were clean during the last scan.

So a local whitelist of safe files is built while scanning rather than a cache then. So unknown (to Emsisoft at least) are continually scanned.

Oh well. Thanks for clarifying anyway.

Quick question. I am thinking of purchasing a year license for the Emsisoft IS. I know it comes with AM + OA correct? With the AM and the OA components, does it make sense to still use Mamutu? Or is Mamutu built in? Thanks. :)

If you are gong to buy EAM, it appears you don't need Mamutu.
From the bottom of this link:
    "Mamutu + Signature Scanner = Emsisoft Anti-Malware!
While Mamutu is the ideal addition to your existing signature based antivirus software, Emsisoft Anti-Malware provides a signature based disk scanner beside all behavior based detection methods of Mamutu. This can be used to search and clean your PC from Malware infections.

Wow, so for 16$ I get all three? That's awesome! Gonna buy a license today (if when I install it it doesn't slow down my system more than my current setup [ESETv5 AV + Private FW]) and then grab another license for a future notebook I am planning on buying. :)

Another question, the Emsisoft anti-malware logo looks so familiar. If I remember correctly, some time ago there was an anti-malware program called A^2. I used to use it and it was awesome and fast. Was that a previous version of Emsisoft anti-malware or is it a coincidence?
