I had the trial installed to see if 5 was worth getting and got a firewall initialization error today. I couldn't fix it, and the error kept saying to restart or reinstall. So I opted to reinstall the trial. My uninstall got stuck, I left it for an hour and it never finished, was at the end of the uninstall. I finally forced it to close because it was stuck in the same place for over an hour (broke slow).

Knowing that every file probally wasn't removed, I removed every registry entry I could find for ESET, along with any files and folders for ESET. I removed everything on my system from ESET except for the installer.

Note: I used the uninstaller in safemode prior to deleting the files.

So my system "shouldn't" have any issues what so ever reinstalling because everything is gone, right? Wrong.

I install, get all the way to the end of the installation, I get through the drivers and all the way to where it's removing the temp files from the installer. Suddenly "Rollback" and it uninstalls itself.

"Eset Smart Security installation was ended prematurely."

Now, I've been trying to figure this out for over 6 hours now and I can't figure it out. I've reinstalled uninstalled several times doing everything to remove the files with each attempt, and nothing works. Googleing the problem pretty much points to these forums, and yet no one has a solution.

I did find one thing odd, now that there is absolutely nothing left of ESET besides the installer, when I opened my e-mail to finish registering here, ESET warnings popped up saying something about a problem starting with a path to the install location I had it installed to, pointing to eplgOE.dll.

Seems something with my e-mail software may be connected still, possibly what's causing me to not be able to reinstall?

Windows 7 Pro 64, and the e-mail is Windows Live Mail.

Going to dig deeper into the email problem now to see if I can figure it out.

Any suggestions would be helpful. I've looked at all these threads involving the installation ending prematurely and none has been helpful so far.

I am a computer tech and can't figure it out =P.

Also, I don't think sending a support ticket would do me any good, apparently extremely long wait times on their replies, and it's a 30 day trial. So either I figure it out with your help, or I just don't use ESET.

Installed Kaspersky just for kickers, and nothing came up about ESET. Installed fine.

Apparently the e-mail error was because of the new install I attempted. Deleted the remaining files after the uninstall and it stopped giving me the error.

Seems ESS installs fully, then gets to the end to remove backups and then errors out, rolls back and deleted everything.

    I'm stumped.

The install logs always show 1603 for errors.

I am currently scanning with Malwarebytes, then will hit it with hitman pro, then secure2k, and finally kaspersky, just to check for and clean any infections that could possibly be causing this.

    I'm running out of ideas.

    Quick edit

    ----

Tried to use SysInspector, it starts the scan, then freezes and closes out from not responding.

Please generate an install log as per the instructions here and supply it to customer care for perusal (or post here the download link so that I can check it myself).

I don't think the log will help you, I gave you the only error listed in the log, which is generic.

This happened because the uninstall did not finish properly. Why it continues to happen after removing EVERY TRACE of ESET is beyond me.

Again, this is the TRIAL. I had it installed when the firewall error happened, went to uninstall to reinstall like it said, and this happened.

It's hard to believe that after using the uninstaller in safe mode, and deleting every trace that I can find, wouldn't have resolved the problem.

Windows 7 Pro 64, and after searching for the drivers for ESET, they aren't on my system, no registry keys for ESET.

Are there files / reg keys that aren't named with any sort of ESET that I could look for? (Again, after searching the forum, I've looked for the files people have posted, nothing is there.)

I, for one, don't recall a case when the install log didn't help us to determine the issue or narrow it down to a specific area.

    Sent.

As far as SysInspector goes, as stated above, I can't get it to finish. It crashes out with a error for not responding. Gets roughly halfway through, then poof.

If need be, I'm available on Skype or MIRC, or just about anything.

Similar experience on two occasions. Both turned out to be hardware faults.
One a disk drive, the other a SATA cable. I suspect the self protect code acts as a hardware test.
I use disk imaging software now so I can readily restore a good image which if still fails points to hardware.
Your problem of course maybe different.

Working with Marcos, we came to the conclusion that it was a BFE fault. The BFE was faulting causing the install to fail.

Reason? BFE isn't there! Apparently the virus I got a few weeks back, which took me using combofix to remove, wiped out the BFE service. I could manually reinstall it with a registry fix and getting the dll from my other 7 machine, but there's no telling what else the virus took with it. I never knew this until trying to reinstall and Marcos showing me. If the BFE is gone, what else is? I'm not digging to find out. Reinstalling windows :). Better safe than sorry.
