I had posted that my Eset Smart security didnt start on system start up and takes too long to start... well i have figured out the problem now and need to solve it.

My Lan connection is struck on "Acquiring network address " and when i start my pc if my modem is plugged in and switched on then my Eset SS do not start automatic..and takes some time.. but if that modem is switched off then system starts fine.

how to fix this Lan connection struck on "Acquiring network address " problem?

i tried to repair the Lan connection but it shows error . i also tried to run the ipconfig /flushdns
    ipconfig /release
    ipconfig /renew

but it didnt work for me.

Give me the full and final solution so that Lan connection struck on "Acquiring network address " error will be gone . thank you .. waiting for reply .

I'd start by first calling your ISP.

Have them troubleshoot it for you.

Or, you can try the following.

Click on start, then in the search field at the bottom type cmd and hit enter. At the command prompt, type netsh winsock reset and hit enter. Restart, see if this fixes it.

If it was working before, and stopped, it's either a corrupted driver, the winsock needs resetting, a virus is causing problems, or the nic card is going bad.

If it does not, go to your control panel, click on device manager, (assuming you're running at least Vista) and open up your network adapters +. Right click on your network adapter, and uninstall. Once it's uninstalled, click Action at the top, and scan for hardware changes. It will detect the device, and reinstall it.

If you have a nic card that isn't supported by the windows driver, throw your disk in and install the driver, or download it from the website on another machine.

If this doesn't fix it, its one of two things, a Virus, or ISP problem.

Either way, it's best to first call your isp and have them go through the troubleshooting. Unless, that is, your internet is working, and the line you're using does indeed work. Then all you can do is what I listed.

If none of this (including isp help) resolves, go get you a USB ethernet adapter, see if that resolves the problem, your nic "could" be dead, but we don't know that yet.

    Hope it helps!
