    Backup and Recovery 11

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I just bought above software. Basically I want to clone image of entire C:\ Drive to another internal HD ( Drive E:\) of similar size. Cab become a bootable drive as well.

    My questions :
    1) What function do I use? Copy or Backup? What is the difference
    2) My internal Drive E:\ is with old OS ( Vista) and Data, which I don't need. Do I have to Format E:\ before proceeding to use Copy function OR during copy process old info is deleted by overwriting.
    3) Will I be able to boot the system with drive E:\ following copy. Of course I need to disconnect drive C:\
    4) Can I schedule backup copy from C to E say monthly or so ?

    Thank you in anticipation

    Kiran

    1. If you want to clone C to E and boot from E, use copy. If you use backup, you will get an image file. To boot from this image, you will need to restore it to another partition or disk before booting.
    2. The existing information will be deleted automatically.
    3. Yes. If you use Windows 7, it is not necessary to disconnect C. Just use the boot menu to direct the boot to E. Check that the partition to boot from is set as "active".

    Everything worked as advised.

However, I am still not able to explore Boot menu in Windows 7. Can please guide through?

To open the boot menu, reboot and press a key several times. What key to press depends on your computer, you may find it in the documentation. In Dell computers, the key is F12.

The boot option selected only works once. The boot order can be changed more permanently in the BIOS setup. In Dell computers, the BIOS setup is opened pressing F2 after rebooting.
