The downloads at Filehippo are 150 megs or more. I was wondering if anyone has it installed and could tell me how much hard drive space it takes up installed. Thanks. :)

    Thanks everyone.

Wow, even Avast only used 172 plus about 40 in the definition folder.

Decided to give Security Essentials a try. I wish I'd tried it sooner. After trying multiple other antiviruses on XP, SE just works and very small footprint, no problemo. :)

Yet over at the CNET or even AVG site, the DL is 3.8 MB which seems to reflect in HDD space used yet both seem identical once installed except for space used. At the risk of asking a dumb question, what is the difference? Both install exactly the same on the same image, both scan the same amount of folders, both find the same 3 tracking cookies, initial scan with the 3.8 MB installer was a few minutes quicker. but otherwise nothing different except installed size.

This is not a full installer - just a stub downloader which, upon execution, downloads and executed the real installer.

Thank you, the space difference was due to some other activity or cleaning. By the way, AVG Free 2012 ran very light on my machine, as well as Avast Free and very, very close to Avira Free and will be reinstalled.

with size of HDs on most PCs nowadays does even a few hundred mbs really matter?I'd be more bothered about memory usage or cpu loading
