    Dear all

I would like to use Firefox Portable to access the internet on occasions. How can I secure it so that my history, cookies and any other traces of my browsing can be deleted automatically on closing the application?

    Thanks

    Mike

Options - Privacy - check Clear history when Firefox closes - Settings - check whatever you want.

If you use a USB stick just encrypt that thing.

Or run it out of a TrueCrypt container, then you don't have to worry about it. I do that with Tor, T-Bird, and FireFox.

really? that works for you? i've tried that several times with "a container", "encrypting the whole stick" and so on... but it worked for ~ 1 month or something, than all my usb-flash drives crashed and i've lost all data i haven't backup recently...

...and i wasn't using 10 eur or gift usb flash drives!

what usb-flash drive are u using? could it maybe be the encrypted type, which leads to the crashes, or not? i was using aes for encrypting...

i've also a general question about usb-flash drives: most or all usb-flash drives are using fat32 datasystem - is it a bad idea if you format the drive one time with ntsf? and if yes, why?

    regards, digizik

I don't use a flash drive, sorry. I just create a container on my hard drive, big enough to hold the above programs, and extract all the portable versions there. They run fine...been doing it for years.
