I use Dr. Web Light for my Xoom. It doesn't have the extra features that you need for a phone. Better detection rate than most although whether or not you need an AV could be debated. Doesn't seem to impact battery life much that I can tell.

On Toshiba Thrive tablet I used Lookout, then switched to Dr.Web and added AdBlock. Dr.Web is working well, has on demand scan of any file or directory including those on the external SD card plus the usual checks of app installations and I think it watches the web as well because I see it everyonce in a while. It's quiet, doesn't seem to affect the resources much.

    Please see this testing thread

Could well be true. There are no open ports. And the Dalvik thing is a sandbox of sorts.
BUT applications often get permission to do things you'd rather not want. Why should a notepad or a simple puzzle game need internet access? Or read your contacts list? or make phone calls or install stuff or see your exact location ...

Yeah well, I was just thinking about security on my new tablet.

No GPS, 3G/Cell Phone on the Nook Color...so some of the features on these Android AVs arent going to be useful for me, its seems.

Dr. Web CureIt! may be the way to go for the Nook Color.

In may research reading....these piqued my interest.

    Webroot
    Zoner
    NetQin
    ALYac
    Bitdefender

    F-Secure
    Kapersky

Isn't Dr.Web Cure it just for Windows?

    For Android:
Dr.Web Light (free) covers my tablet which has no 3G/phone feature, just wi-fi.
Dr.Web paid covers the lost phone issues, wipes it etc.
Both manuals are here, look at tables of content - none of that phone stuff in the Light version

    Youre right.

Is locking and wiping something that you could do over WiFi connection to the tablet?
