Hi, I just realized that KeePass 2.x allows synchronization via the web. Which means I can encrypt my whole password database and upload it on MY ftp/server (and not on some 3rd party one). Together with Keeform/Keefox it would fully replace LastPass.

    What do you guys think?

@edit: you could also sync via dropbox, amazon ,...

I think I'm not capable of securing a server like LastPass devs.

Plus they don't have access to my encrypted data. It's technically impossible without the password.

Why not RoboForm? I am just interested in why LastPass seems so popular for this type of application, but I don't hear as much about RoboForm. I've been using RoboForm for a couple of years now and it seems to work very well. Should I consider switching to LastPass? If so, why?

I use LastPass and love it. Roboform just doesn't appeal to me for some reason.

Yes LastPass is nice & secure. I use it myself. I just want to use a free solution and preferable host everything on my own server instead of some random 3rd party server where I have no idea who is able to see my files. So I didn't really ask what you think about LastPass, just if KeePass + KeeFox/Form could replace it :D

No problem :p I think KeePass itself is very awesome (will let it handle all my ftp-client/ssh/etc passwords). I just wonder if it would be a great replacement for browser stuff (automatic logins, ask to save new passwords , etc). Syncing should work just fine as well.

Well I just tried it on a virtualbox.. it's awesome !

I went to some domain, logged in with the normal login (so I typed username + pw) and then firefox asked me to save the login to keepass. I said yes. logged out / restarted firefox and visted the site again. There is a "login" button in firefox.. I click it. It logs me in automatically.

    Awesome ! :p

Bye LastPass, hello KeePass & KeeFox (syncing via my own server)

I also like the idea of maintaining complete control over the passwords; however, does the KeePass have an iPhone solution?

With RF, all I have to do is click on Login and then the name of the site I want to go to and it takes me there and does the log in for me. It doesn't get much easier than that.
I don't think that Last Pass or Keepass can do it that way.
Please correct me if I'm wrong.

    Both doe exactly the same.

There is an android & iPhone version of keepass (kepassdroid & on iphone I think its mykeepass).

I will do the syncing like this:
Database via sftp (which is good encrypted by keepass). However, I also enabled the key-file (so u need to key-file for decrypting the database). I will use AxCrypt to encrypt that keyfile, then put it in some password-rar/zip-archive and then hide it somewhere on my server (in a password-locked folder). I could add TrueCrypt encryption as well.. 3 different passwords :D So I have the keyfile on my laptop and in case I need it somewhere else I have this long encrypting/unpacking process for the key-file. But it's secure :p
