What is the best one please? I used SUMO, Filehippo one, and PSI but they all seem to not fill everything I want.

What does everyone use here if any?

I'm using Psi, you can add missing programs manually but not the portables apps.

I use the free download manager FlashGet 1.9 to check for updates for around 200 programs daily.

Once you have download a file with FlashGet, you can right click on the downloaded file and there is an option "Check for update." If the online version of the file differs from the download one, the new version is downloaded.

I have set up an Updates category in FlashGet and any downloads I want to check for updates to I drag from Downloaded to Updates. When I want to check for updates I click on the Updates category, press Ctrl + A to select everything I've got in there, and then right click and select "Check for update" to check for updates for all 200 programs.

You can only do this with version 1 releases of FlashGet, sadly the functionality to check for updates been removed in v2 and v3.

There is an equivalent feature in Internet Download Manager too but I prefer FlashGet. These seem to be the only two download managers which can do this, which is a shame as FlashGet is somewhat buggy and crashes from time to time.

I don't use any software update manager.
I either use the built-in 'Check for Updates' from each program Menu
or set them to automatically check for Updates.

    I use

    • Microsoft Update

    • PortableApps.com Platform Updater (for portable programs that follow PortableApps.com Format specification)

    • KC SUMo (for installed programs ; also tweaked to scan folder with portable programs that don't follow PortableApps.com Format specification)

All I have is listed / checked!

Indeed, but why, since it is able to detect portable applications?

I don't know that psi can scan for portable apps. I've discovered today, it makes psi very good :)

I find the best Softpedia. I just subscribe to receive an email when the programs are updated.
