I was browsing around the Webroot site reading a bit about what I understand (from posts here) is our Prevx SafeOnline replacement or closest substitute - Webroot SecureAnywhere (http://www.webroot.com/En_US/consumer-products-secureanywhere-complete.html), HUGE difference between the two, correct? I wonder which of those 2 applies? Do tell, please. Need to know of course.

Well, looking at the product features on the left with GREEN checkmarks, the very first one is "AntiVirus" and the 3rd is "Firewall". Plus 50% of the rest of the features I don't need, or won't use if they're optional features and manually run. Or is this a one-click program like Prevx also? i hope so! Don't want anything complicated at all. Sure would be great if it is, truly. Please let me know as I understand some of you or many have tried the 30 day Trial demo. Don't know if there are any whose Prevx license ended and are now on WSA.

It sure does not look like this is compatible (not if it is In Fact" an AV program as clearly advertised on their site) with the ESET SS on my desktop nor my Nod32 on my laptop at all. Plus I am using the free Windows Firewall on the laptop and I'm behind a router. With my ESET, I get a firewall with that. What to do?

Where do folks like me stand now? Silly me just thought WSA was a buffed-up top-tier replacement program because poor Prevx got bought-out by Webroot and yada, yada from all the font, posts and hype here at Wilders. That was clearly the impression I got - "WSA is going to/will take the place of PSO we're working on all the transfers of licenses right now, etc."

Today I learn that's not even close to the truth. This looks to me like a big and powerful product and probably a lot of configuring too.

Can somebody from ESET and Webroot please fill me in on my concerns as it looks like I am going to have to dump either ESET or Webroot. Cannot have 2 anti-virus programs running at the same time or 2 firewalls. Bottom line, it's even being touted as a complete security suite on some sites and compared with them. Thus my NEW + grave concern over compatibility with ESET + Nod32.

I would love to heard what members know and can share with me please in addition to folks from or representing Webroot and ESET. I'm sure I am not the only concerned , confused person or someone completely under the wrong impression. Especially when you look at the add I linked to.
    both
Thanks in advance. Need to know so I can do the right thing and not lose any layers of protection.

xpost with ESET (fyi - just this one time. won't xpost again)

EDIT: This is just awful! I just went through System Requirements again for this WAS and it said (32bit). That's half of us. The rest of us - like both my `puters are 64-bit. WOW!! A Brand New product just coming out that is only (32bit)? Why does that completely shock me? That can't be right. No way. My eyes got tired from all that reading and I must have missed something. When my license runs out, will I with my 2 64-bit `puters be left without and defenseless? Please advise.

The really confusing part is WSA comes in 3 varieties with a $20 increase per variety and I haven't the faintest idea at all which one we are to subscribe to, assuming my original compatibility concerns are ever addressed and resolved if possible.
I closed the page so I'm going strictly by memory on what they have:
    1) Complete

    2) Essentials

    3) Antivirus

Which one of the above is our PrevxSafeOnline replacement please? Is it being an AntiVirus program as advertised HEAVILY and running 24/7/365 like Prevx as opposed to an "On Demand" program going to be compatible for those of us who use ESET Smart Security which also includes a firewall and Nod32 antivirus and using free Windows Firewall? We can drop that if it's proven to us that this Webroot Firewall is better, natch. Happily and hastily.

Lots of questions understandably, I know, but there's a Billion I did NOT ask.

Looking forward to your replies and Thanks All in advance.!

    Happy Thanksgiving.

Good Morning ! Newbie...first off the product is Prevx 4/Webroot and it's a fairly straight forward setup and installation...having said that there are some choices when setting up the various modules that this appears to be as indepth a product as you the user want to make it. Good luck in hearing directly from someone from Webroot...as Triple Helix seems to be the Moderator from Prevx...due to the fact their is no Webroot user Forum. Also Webroot has done a substandard P.R. job in taking care of existing Prevx users in regards to License migration. And their is no One User License product pricing...unacceptable in my eyes. And the pricing has to be more competitive...as a result I would wait until Black Friday before committing yourself financially. Sincerely...Securon

SecureAnywhere Essentials 2012 http://www.webroot.com/En_US/consumer-products-secureanywhere-essentials.html is the closes to Prevx 3.0 with SafeOnline and is 32bit & 64bit compatible and is designed to work with other security software I myself use WSA and it's firewall with Look'n'Stop firewall on my Laptop for extra protection when I'm on the road at home I'm hooked up to my Router! WSA is built on Prevx Technology unlike there 2011 product line so you should have no issues with ESS or NOD32 AV and WSA-E! Also have a look at the Online Help Guides here for more info: http://www5.nohold.net/Webroot/Loginr.aspx?pid=2&login=1&app=vw&solutionid=861

Could you let me know where you've seen it's only 32bit compatible? All versions of WSA are fully 64bit compatible so I'd like to get it corrected.

    Thanks! :)

IMO to me Joe the only thing I found that is 32bit is the Browsers, how about 64bit Browsers such as IE9? But yes I would like to see also!

There is zero benefit to running a 64-bit browser in most cases.

64-bit simply means it can access more memory space. So instead of the browser crashing at 2GB of used memory if it's bombed by a page loading a metric ton of junk, it will consume all of the system's memory and not crash just the browser. The only reason I know of for somebody to need to use a 64-bit browser is in cases where a custom plugin or something consumes tremendous amounts of memory. That and most commercial plugins are 32-bit only, so wouldn't work.

Why would anybody even want to use a 64-bit browser?

    To Newbie:
WSA is Prevx 4.0. It works fine with other AV and other Firewalls. The firewall is an extended egress firewall system. The AV works perfectly well as a standalone, however is also submissive to other installed AVs to prevent conflicts if you decide on a layered security approach.

Thanks for that, TH. We actually do support 64bit browsers in most of the functionality of WSA, but not all. I suspect this is unclear because of that designation, but the bulk of the functionality will still work (malicious URL blocking and antimalware protection).

I'll circle back with our team to be sure of exactly what they're expecting and if we should change the expected supported browsers.

    Thanks!

Except for having access to double the registers (and you can google what those are) and having ASLR that actually does something.

And the fact that Flash is 64bit. The fact that Java is 64bit.

but ok, sure, it's just about address space

I'm seeing some conflicting data on my own PC and in Adobe's documentation. Is your Flash Player actually natively 64bit when run through a 64bit browser?

I think I may need to reinstall mine..... :)

Are you using a 64bit browser?

Yes, Adobe Flash is native 64bit as of 11.

    Benefits and downsides to everything.

Some extra security at the cost of compatibility (which for some could be a benefit). A tiny bit of extra speed (relatively speaking. .180s versus .200s...? Yay). Extra memory use. Just not ready for prime time IMHO, and in most consumers' usage scenarios, not worth using. :)

I guess that's the thing though. I tend to advise for the "average" consumer, which most folks on Wilders are much better then.

On the main topic, I think the 32-bit claim is a typo or old data. Even the third party plugin for WSAC appears to have 64bit stuff, though I may be misinterpreting the data I see.

    Securon,

I agree 100% with you on your disenchantment and yes, if you go back to my post and re-read my EDIT section, you'll find my remarks on how pricey this product is.

I will add something I don't like one whit that I haven't seen mentioned yet. It appears to me that this is a one shot deal which is horrid for a very pricey anti-malware program. IOW, you get ONE, I repeat ONE download and that's it. You MUST shell out the 9 bucks for the CD. Least that is how their pitch comes across -loud + clear - when explaining the unexpected 9 dollar charge suddenly appearing as you take your Cart to Checkout.

Thank you all for showing me where I did miss the 64-bit in System Requirements. There are so many of these WSA ads all over the `Net and I know I did see one where it was 32-bit and that might have been just for one particular o/s or browser or whatever. I forget now.

So, this is Prevx/4 and Nod32 friendly. GREAT news but which one of the 3 versions is the one to spend our hard-earned money on?

Complete - Unbelievably expensive - lots of bells and whistles

Essentials - still over-priced with more toys than Prevx

Antivirus - lowest cost yet still over-priced and the one that looks closest to PSO only because it has the least amount of features. PSO was to me, a bare-bones, 1 click operation. IMHO, I also feel that way with ESET SS and Nod32. Simply install it and never think about it again after painfully shelling out the big bucks of course.:D

You gets what you pay for. Am I right or not?

I'm not sure I understand what you're experiencing. You can always download it again - just make sure you save your keycode and you can uninstall/reinstall as much as you need.

Good Evening ! WSA Essentials should be priced at $34.95 same as Prevx 3.0 & Safe On Line...Two days left until Black Friday...Webroot still hasn't addressed the Prevx License issue...or the One License issue...or a more competitive Pricing structure. Two Days and counting ! Sincerely...Securon

I like Joe and TH, and for the life of me, this is the one perplexing issue that to me, has stiffled Webroots new throttle up with the Prevx acquisition.

It doesnt take a rocket scientist to just do what is right and make it right. I really urge Mel Morris to step up and bury this issue once and for all. At this point it isnt about $$$$ but more about the future integrity of Webroot as a viable option for folks.

Thank you for this Very Good news. :) Appreciate it very much. It would help immensely if this critical and crucial information was very clearly put forth for potential customers - actually for all consumers. Without it, one feels that they "must" purchase the disk even after reading the mini-explanation of why the 9 dollar charge is suddenly there. Leaves a very bad, sour taste in your mouth and a similar feeling for the company.

Now, if only we could get this software price in a fair, justifiable, feasible and reasonable price range. Wouldn't that be just? Very nice too.

Thank you all very much for help and information.

I still can't believe that this is going to run smoothly with ESET products since there will now be 2 AV's AND 2 Firewalls running simultaneously. :doubt: Incredible when you think about it. The complete opposite of what we all have been taught. But if you guys say it's a GO, I have got to believe you as you are the ones who should know and that I'm asking. And I do thank you for you time and answers.

Again, a big heartfelt grateful THANK YOU to everyone who responded and replied.

That is very strange and should be changed. I don't believe Webroot even sees any of the $9 either - that's all just for the packaging costs.

At the moment it is free with mail in rebate: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16832296059 :)

Thank you very much for the link which brought me to this page: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16832296059

Unfortunately, this is the wrong product. Bummer. :-( It's the "Antivirus", not the "Essentials" we're all being told to buy as it is the same or most similar to PrevxSafeOnline - because of something to due with some "Shield" component. Or am I missing something?

The shipping is free I saw which is wonderful. Didn't see anything about the disk though. Once I saw it was the wrong product, I didn't stick around to check everything else out. Very nice to have coupons on the Internet. Every time I spot one and try to use it it's a dud. Probably some bored to death nut-jobo_O running a scam. So after all these years I've yet to redeem a single coupon.

Boy oh boy, I sure could use a coupon, discount or any sort of price reduction for "Essentials", the disk and S+H. Maybe Santa will give us one and it will cover all the `puters here.

Two Relevant Questions Please Who normally gives these software coupons away, the product manufacturer, a wholesaler or some retailer? What's the best way to keep on top of legitimate coupons and discounts daily? I badly and rapidly need to learn - take an intensive course - all about coupons and become very savvy as we really squeeze the living daylights out of every penny here, like most everyone else I'd imagine. And we're ALL always needing to upgrade our necessary software as well as renew all of our related subscriptions/licenses. So much security! Wow! I wouldn't be surprised if half of my programs are security related nowadays. Shame. So sad too. :-(

My older brother is always lamenting :argh: that he spends more time on maintenance and security than he does on pleasure and enjoyment. Something is very wrong with that fact and I'll wager that he's not the only one. This is only the end of the 1st generation. Imagine 25 and 50 years from now? Holy Cow!

Hope everyone's Thanksgiving Holiday was marvelous. Enjoy the leftovers, heh.:D

That's correct, it is just the antivirus product, but I believe we have (or had) significant discounts for the Essentials product as well. According to our Twitter we're going to have more discounts coming on Monday, although I don't know what they will be yet.

I know there are websites which track coupons, but some will only be shown in stores and many will be local to an area (i.e. discounted software for a certain city or specific store). From what I've seen, the primary coupons come from resellers/wholesalers/retailers rather than the manufacturer itself.

I hope we can help change that! Our goal is to provide maintenance free security which doesn't require any technical knowledge to use.

    Thank you! :)
