I was wanting to use the Filehippo updatechecker, but wanted to ask everyone if you think it can be a trojan or security and privacy risk? Who really knows what the program is doing and sending back to filehippo, right?

    Safe or best to avoid?

Perfectly safe, clean and welcome tool.
You can also configure it to look for programs in non-default (Program files) location.

I always found Filehippo to be safe, you can scan any file you download with AV or malwarebytes Anti-maleware.

That is the privacy policy. If you still dont trust them Im sure you could do traffic analysis with a tool like Wireshark to get an idea of what is being sent back. I peronally feel this tool is very safe security and privacy wise.

I have never used it but lots of people do. I don't think it would have the reputation it does if it wasn't safe or a rogue.

Secunia is only for vulnerability fixes. If the program update doesn't contain security fixes, PSI won't show the update.
