Has a Chromebook failed any of these tests ? If not, does anyone know if a Chromebook's security has yet been breached ? If the answer to both my questions is no, what are we all waiting for ? How about a Chromebook for banking, and our other machines loaded down with as much security as they can handle for the unimportant stuff, confident in the knowledge that this security will most certainly fail sooner than later ?

You can simply run ChromeOS in a VM but it would, of course, be vulnerable to MITM attack and insecure networks just like any other computer.

So the answer to my second question would be that as far as you know a Chromebook has not yet had its security breached ?

Isn't Chrome OS based on Linux? There should be some vulnerabilities but i guess since it's such a low profile OS no one is interested in it.
Better just get a Bootable USB with a Linux Distro!

It seems Chromebook's only vulnerability is the flaw in Chrome's extensions. The OS is strictly noexec. Apparently it is by far the most secure os/system/anything which can access the web. I would like one for banking and shopping.

But this is about protecting Windows! MRG need to hurry up with the latest (and largest) test ever.

Noob "Better just get a Bootable USB with a Linux Distro! Too much of a faff, want a machine that's ready to go from the off. "Isn't Chrome OS based on Linux? It is, but it's what Google have done to it that makes it so safe

Nope, no security breaches so far that I know of.

It's the linux kernel but with quite a lot of code removed and a lot of strict policies.

Of course there are vulnerabilities in extensions and if that extension has, say, rights to all of your passwords you can be in serious trouble without an exploit in the OS/Browser ever being used.

And it still won't save you from attacks that are based on your network.

But, yes, you can be confident that your machine is malware free.

Although it might be secure i don't like Chrome OS limited use, kinda blows prefer using something like Ubuntu (Most user friendly) than Chrome OS.
