No panic. It's just BitDefender's compatibility with MBAM I felt is something to worry about. I see MBAM as a waste of resource with BitDefender AV Plus 2012 active :)

That was pretty much my reaction. But to each his own.

Thanks for that. I must have missed that bit. I'm just the kind of person who'd rather be safe than sorry ;)

Plus, check this out: https://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?showtopic=99502 and then when taking into account the testing done by reputable researchers, plus some personal attacks I threw at it. It stood defenceless, only blocking malicious IPs which I've covered through PeerBlock anyway. Sorry if this is offending anyone. I get very aggressive with these things.

ah! I see. Bitdefender is mean and evil to other companion antimalware/antispyware....well as long as it's also mean and evil to malware and virus that's all fine  .....

Oh, yeah. Bitdefender's reputation really is well deserved. I'm enjoying testing it today, picking up on malware ESET unfortunately missed which weren't false positives either. Love it.

Edit: I just noticed ESET has official forums here. Oops! My sincere appologies. I had no intention to defame the product, it is my second-choice for active protection over many others. :)

yeah I see the OP in that thread never replied with the reports that he was asked for. How can you expect to solve a problem if you do not let the experts pin point the prob in the first place.

well, I don't know which reputable researchers you are talking about but almost every av company asks users to run a scan with malwarebytes antimalware first if their pc is infected and preventing the av from installing. And furthermore my ears have become stale from hearing countless people claiming malwarebytes antimalware cleaned their pc from worms and malware which were not stopped or cleaned by their respective Avs.

But I guess what you did there in your personal test was testing the realtime protection of malwarebytes antimalware. I agree it's only executable protection and not that much developed or sophisticated. But hey, there's still room for improvement. Marcin and his team are working hard in that. As a result malwarebytes antimalware still remains the top notch antimalware in the market....

that's okay...I'm not a fanboy of any software anyways....I like to go with the soft approach in these things :argh: .....

The OP to that thread seems to have given up.

Hehe. Yeah, you seem to have misunderstood. Indeed, I was only using MBAM for it's extra active protection now rendered useless with the 'evil-to-other-security-software' Bitdefender ;). I'm planning on adding MBAM's free version to a portable usb setup as part of an emergency kit, I've also heard it's great for that.

My brief affair with an AV is over. Back to running Chrome under Sandboxie.

They've updated Pure or is it still using an older engine? Last I heard Pure trailed other Kaspersky Products.

True  just much excited really. It works and is cheaper than every other of its kind.

To be honest, I'm awaiting to see the latest flash test. 200 0-day samples? That's true test of active protection. Can't wait :)

I'm also looking to add a SSH tunnel to my setup to secure myself against packet sniffers / online stalkers, still trying to figure it out o_O

What do you use as a firewall and active AV? I saw you mentioned adding Privatefirewall, why did you remove it?
