Yes, just replace wfc.exe with the new one. I have left the same internal build version, so it can't update the preview version.
I have just installed the latest version of Maxthon from their website (3.2) and everything looks great. The same on IE, Opera, Chrome, Firefox.

Here's an interface problem in 3.1.0.0 final version: In "Manage Rules" window, the "display" combo boxes become grayed-out after switching between tabs "Windows Firewall Rules" and "Hidden Notifications".

I don't have any Hidden rules so switching to that shows combo's grayed out which is by design I imagine. When switching back to WFC rules from Hidden, they are not grayed out. Do you have hidden rules applied with combo's grayed out?

I have one hidden "wfc.exe". The problem occurs after switching back, not switching itself. I guess this might be activation related.

Alex, I've got an idea for another feature:
What about an activate/deactivate option per rule - as to be found in WF?

    It would speed up experimenting...

Haven't used it but I thought that's what the enable/disable in manager rules is for.

I'm getting older which means my eyes are fading. Something that I would like to see is the textual links in the manage rules window have some color change on hover. Or better yet, use the window button for each one. You should still be able to use your icons in the button.

Indeed, when using the program unactivated. I have fixed this. Tomorrow I will publish the version for 125DPI and an update of the normal version to fix this problem.
I will add this. Check for a new version tommorow.

    Version 3.1.0.1 available

    What's new in this version:
    - Added: The colums in Manage Rules can be sorted ascendent and descendent when a user clicks on a column header. (Greg S)
    - Updated: Menu items in Manage Rules have now a different color on mouse hover to improve their recognition. (Greg S)
    - Fixed: The two combo boxes are disabled after changing the current tab in Manage Rules. (Macolm)

I have also finished the 125 DPI version.

Download link for the normal version:
    http://binisoft.org/download/wfc.exe
Download link for the higher DPI version:
    http://binisoft.org/download/dpi/wfc.exe

    Installation notes:
This version can update any previous version. You don't have to close the current version that is running. The updater will do this for you and will copy itself into the old version location and it will relaunch itself from there.

Any feedback and suggestions are welcomed. I will try to add new suggested features if they can be implemented.

    Thank you for your support,
    Alexandru

All seems to be working well. I do notice that the column sort doesn't carry over after reboot but it's not an issue.

The displaying in Manage Rules is always reset to default at program start. I think you already noticed that even the window position is not saved at program restart. I thought it will be useless to store these settings in Windows registry and to load them every time the program starts, because WFC has a simple interface and doesn't take much time to set these settings. Two or three mouse clicks is not too much. :)

During a clean-up of my computer, I have found the first version (1.6) that was published on Softpedia early in 2010, back in the days when I didn't had the website. This version does not require installation and do not interfere with any current versions. It will start in system tray and will work in the same time with any new version. This is just to preview from where this project started and where it came today.

    Download link:
    http://binisoft.org/download/first/wfc.exe

You can run it from any location and delete it after you saw this starting version. It looked really "awesome" :)

Of all the versions from 1.6, which do you consider to be your personal favorite? I'm sure at some point, one version stood out to you as being a break through version for your hard work.

I am always proud of the latest version because it adds new functionality, it fixes old problems, it's always better than the previous version. So, I must confess version 3.1.0.1 is the best choice. An important addition was the importing of the firewall rules from WFwAS in Manage Rules, introduced in version 3.1.0.0.

One big point in development of WFC was also version 2.9 when I introduced Learning Mode. It was also a big pain in the * because of the localisation problems. Too much trouble, but I'm thankful that finally I have found a way to overcome the localisation problems in the recent versions.

I think finally we can speak about a polished version, from the version 3.1.0.0. But, always is place for better.

Thank you all for helping me to improve Windows Firewall Control.

I would definetly agree! At least from this point on WFC makes any third party firewall software obsolete!
    Thank you for your efforts!

    Good News
Today I have installed Windows 8 Developer Preview (build 8102) and WFC works perfectly on the next version of Windows: Learning Mode, Manage Rules, Shell Integration, etc.

Bad News (not from my point of view)
It seems that Windows 8 Firewall will not have support to show notifications for outgoing blocked connections.

As a conclusion, we will use Windows Firewall Control also on Windows 8. :D

Alex, what syntax/command are you using to execute the opening of Windows Firewall with Advanced Security from your context menu?

    Good News

Today I had enough time to test again WF and WFC by using different firewall tests available on the internet. The profile used in WFC was "Medium Filtering". Because many leak tests use Internet Explorer (iexplore.exe) to inject themselves in this process and then send your data, a rule to block Internet Explorer was created and I choosed not to be alerted again about Internet Explorer. So, Internet Explorer was totally blocked.

    1. GRC ShieldsUP! (available at: https://grc.com/x/ne.dll?bh0bkyd2)

I tried all their tests: File Sharing, Common Ports, All Service Ports, Messenger Spam, Browser Headers.

Result: All passed successfully. The computer was protected in front of all tests.

    2. PC Flank (available at: http://www.pcflank.com)

I tried the following available tests: Leak Test, Quick Test, Stealth Test, Trojans Test, Advanced Ports Scanner, Exploits Test

Result: All passed successfully. The computer was protected in front of all tests.

    3. Test My PC Security (available at: http://www.testmypcsecurity.com/securitytests/all_tests.html#AllTests)

Some of the tests were not able to run because Microsoft Security Essentials found that they are trojans, so the antivirus deleted them automatically. The other tests were succesfully blocked by Windows Firewall.

Result: For the tests that were not recognized as trojans and then automatically removed by the antivirus, Windows Firewall has passed them successfully.
