I kinda agree with Smiggy. Because these full scan speed arguements aren't going to get us anywhere. Its true. :doubt:

Some people manage to get out a lot and don't give a ~ Snipped as per TOS ~ that you think it's lame. I had a situation a couple of nights ago where I found a trojan sitting in PCAV's recycle bin with no indication from PCAV that it was there. A check of the system tray icon said no security problems. A quick scan with MBAM turned up two related pieces of adware not detected by PCAV. A full scan with PCAV seemed in order and an anticipated 3 hour wait gave me pause but I ran it anyway. Maybe you need to catch up on your rest while your scan is running so you can enjoy the sunshine and a little fresh air.:p

Wow, please tell me that you work for NASA and this isn't a home network??
What do you do with your PC's that needs this level of imaging/scanning?
You do realise that if the scan speeds mean so much, and I also used to think of this years ago when people moaned about certain programmes on TV, SWITCH OVER!

I think full scans are generally for after a virus is found, otherwise the quick scans are probably what most people need.

    No the CIA. ;)
But regardless what and why I do with my PC's is my business. Imaging my kids PC's has save me the trouble of dealing with headaches in the past and this works for my needs. And my needs are what I look for first when I buy any products. Slow works for your needs, but it does not work for my needs. .

Regardless for now it looks like PCAV full scanning speed are slightly faster than a moving snail. Snail does not work for me. Hopefully the next version of PCAV will match the speedier turtle. After-all, it is well know fact that turtles are quick, otherwise it would of lost to the rabbit. :D

As a famous brit, one Captain Edmund Blackadder, once said, which is quite pertinent here....................."Wibble"!

Ah yes.....Edmund Blackadder, a lot more fun to watch than the silly Bean charactor, more fun to watch a perfectly good clean figure who can nail the truth with a amusingly sarcastic bite! I think i will have to get the DVD set out again, it's been a while. :D

I don't really care for scan times as well, but a trojan in the recycle bin without indication sounds like something went wrong..

I guess you're doing a full scan to make sure that's it's clean before you make an image. But if something would have went undetected by your realtime AV, chances are it won't detect it on full scan either. I would advice to do the full scan before imaging with another program for a second opinion for example Malwarebytes(which does a full scan in 30 minutes, so no more annoying waits for others.)

The virus notification pop up is very short, only a couple of seconds, and the tray icon doesn't change either.
So if I miss the pop up, I have no idea that panda took action on something.

Any way to increase the pop up time or have some other notification that something happened?

    Thanks

Maybe they can add detection of mouse movement so if something is neutralized when the user is away, they can display the pop-up again when the user moves the mouse.

I couldn't be happier with PCAV Pro. It's so damn awesome! Light, unobtrusive, powerful... it can't get any better. As for the scan times, I don't really care, I just let it scan when I go to bed.

I think a better idea would be right-clicking on the taskbar icon and click "Show last popup" or something. Like with Avast.

IMO mouse movement sounds like it wouldn't be too perfect, if you think about it long enough.

    Just noticed this morning:
    Screenshot PCAV Pro Traffic Log.JPG
What is this "proinfo.pandasoftware.com" domain for? and why is PCAV constantly connecting to it?

Really? don't give me that. I'm asking about "proinfo" not sure if the free version uses the same... that's my question.
Why is it connecting all the time?
