Wow, I must say that I'm pleasantly surprised by this app :thumb:

I think I'm going to stick with it, will keep it for a while and if I don't notice anything "strange" , it's going to be my new firewall :)

    Kudos to the developer :thumb:

Is it normal to have notifies from Win FW too besides WFN's?

WF alerts you about inbound connections. WFN alerts you about outgoing connections. It is perfectly normal.

Alerts doesn't show if the main window of the WFN is open.

i am trying this out right now.

how is it when doing Windows Updates? any problems?
    ------------------------------------------------------
    edit:
seems to work fine with the 3 small Windows updates i got today.

unfortunately, i have no idea what some of the pop-ups mean and if i should allow them.
those kind of apps are really stretching my tolerance for this technobabble.

otherwise, it seems to be a nice and well designed designed little firewall helper.:thumb:

Does it uses the rules created before the installation ?

I have a question. In WFN version 1.32 there was a un-install button when you launched the application again so that you could deactivate the old version before updating WFN. Now i installed version 1.60 when it came out and just downloaded version 1.61. But i do not see that un-install button any more. In version 1.60 i mean.

Is the "Disable notification" button on the options tab now the one i need. Or can i just overwrite the files from v1.60 with the files from v1.61 to update WFN to v1.61?

I overwrote v1.60 with v1.61 and it worked fine for me.

    1.62 released today.

it's probably a good idea to check the site at least once or twice a week.
the updates seems to come at a furious pace lately. :)

If i manually create a rule before the installation it don't consider the rule. If i create a rule after it considers the rule. Is it normal ? It seems to be no looking for the previous responses.

All your rules you created manually should display in Win fw Notifier, and should remain in effect if they are enabled, so it is not normal if you aren't seeing this.

This is quite a nice little program, although noticible lag on the alerts whenever a program requesting connection the first time is detected. This is in the Windows7x64 vm.

It works well (old rules are used) on my real machine, perhaps a problem with the vm.
But it failed to to create the task, so no notifications for outbound connections...

this new version works different, use your seven FW rules , but if you create a rule with FWN you can olny seen it via WFN (exclusion tab if it is blocked)

previous versions was more buggy, with some missing popup, this new works well

It works great when logged in as an administrator but I get no pop-ups when working in a limited/standard user account.
Has anyone been able to get this working as a non administrator?
Even if it is just providing a notification of an outgoing attempt.
    Thanks

I get no popups at all using a non-admin account. I do have WFN running as administrator.

Is it possible to uninstall this app or did you just delete all files? :doubt:
