I'm not expecting much on the false positives, that's why I gave up. I complained on their forums as have many others mostly for the fact that it automatically deletes files without asking and sometimes without any recovery option and the general attitude there is questions are too hard for the average user to deal with. Detections will likely be continued to be deleted without asking.

Plus Norton supports nothing 64 bit but Windows itself. I am running 64 bit Office so I went with something that works with it.

The thing that upsets me is that no Symantec employee responded to my question about false positives on their forum. I guess they figure if they don't respond, the problem doesn't exist.

I understand the problem with automatically deleting false positives, but what are you hearing about the GUI and updates? The GUI is not very different from 2011 - if anything it's easier to read and navigate. And what is the "update" issue?

Can you be more specific? What I see occasionally is updates are not successfully applied after they are downloaded. So far that has straightened itself out without any intervention by me. I can understand how that would worry people - in other words a perception problem - but I don't know that it's actually a security problem.

Deleting false positives without being able to restore is a serious problem. Right?

thing is with Norton you simply can go back to 2011 and problems are solved, with kaspersky all last few releases have had problems!

I've never had an AV automatically delete a file without the ability to recover it from quarantine.

Nope, 2011 deletes false positives as well. As a matter of fact so did the 2010. Previous to that I have not used it since 2003. I am not happy with any of the current products from anyone but the last one I am going to use is one that just deletes files from my system with no reasonable way to stop it from doing so. I have very few gripes about Norton but this one is a deal breaker. All they have to do is give me a button that allows me to add the detection to exclusions even if that feature is enabled in some advanced option settings but they have ignored this request. For 3 years. If they added that option today I would be running it again tonight. It's all up to them.

I agree here with xxJackxx, Symantec should provide some kind of option, where the user gets to choose whether file should be deleted or not.

If you are a member at their forums let them know over there. The more of us that complain the more likely they are to give this any kind of priority. Or do anything at all for that matter. The link that Thankful posted is a good starting place. :thumb:
