No. It never was a good move, and it especially isn't these days.

That's true, but should not be the only path.
Perhaps there could be yearly licenses for the current price and lifetime lcenses for $99 or whatever. Also, why not setup a promo campaign, say, all licenses purchased on thanksgiving will be lifetime licenses. The same could be done on black friday or christmas. Just sayin' tho...

Lifetime licenses are bad for both vendor and customer. Those customers you give a lifetime license to on "Black Friday", will never have to support you again. Also, if the company changes hands, inevitably the new company won't honor the license, meaning this month you paid 100 bucks for life, and next month you get to pay, say 40 each year (or even sooner). It's simply bad for business, and eventually (probably not much longer), that method of business will go bye bye.

i dout panda would change hands they are a good soild company.

now sandboxie, winpatrol have been doing well for a number of year with lifetime keys. so its not a big deal. some people would pay the larger fee some wouldnt. me i would

Unless you're the CEO or in the financial department of Panda, we don't know how "solid" they are. That statement isn't meant to start up a Panda finances chat, and I don't want to. But, these days, and especially in the economy most of the world is dealing with, you don't know who is going to run what tomorrow or even if a company will be here tomorrow.

I doubt Panda is in "danger", but nobody can predict the future. As for small outfits like Sandboxie and WinPatrol, they are always in danger and always on the brink of disappearing. Unless those two are millionaires and have other jobs/projects to keep money flowing, I always am waiting for a change of hands or shutting down. What has worked for several years, and what works now and going forth, can be two totally different things.

The one thing I will say is that they cater financially to the very same people that are suffering in these times. 45 bucks for life is loads better than 30 or so bucks every few months or a year. Unfortunately, in the above mentioned cases, the products see very limited usage for a relatively small audience.

let's not forget we are talking only about Panda Cloud AV, there also other Panda security products. the differencies between PCAV free and pro are only the behaviour analysis and the future firewall. i'm not mentioning the automatically USB vaccinating because you can get that for free as a separate application.

What does "Background scanning after cache synchronization" option work for when enabled? When does this synchronization happen?

Panda cloud has a cache of recent malware. Its used when you are off line and aren't able to sync with the cloud.

The first scan with PCAV was about 2 1/2 hours for my C drive,121 Gb with 100 gigs free.(so slooooow,if you ask me,as the same amount Avast for example took 25 min and Avira 35.)Now i'm doing a second one,and after 45 min the scan is at 31%.Is it more or less the same for you guys?I know,i don't have to do a full scan so often, but still...i see no improvement from the first scan at all.

In my experience, it's recommended to run a Full Scan after installation to build-up the cache. Subsequent FULL scans have been remarkably faster, let alone Smart Scans.
Are you running another security product real-time?

in my case a fulll scan took 1-1.5 hours, with ~100GB of data. i only did a full scan after installation. actually I see no reason to do full scans, as the on-access scanner should catch every malware.

There is no improvement in scanning speed after the first full scan . I've done a few on my netbook with 2MB ram installed no other security products running real time except windows firewall. I have MBAM on demand.

That's too slow. I like to do a full scan of my system once a week before a make an image. My C drive is 500GB's. That needs to be improve before I can consider this AV for any of my PC's.
