    Hello Paragon.

I do not have Boot Camp configuration, thus I can't give you reasonable answers for question listed in your post.

However, I've installed native version of CamTune to see how far it's behind your previous attempts. Surely, native software is good step forward, but I'd like to mention a number of issues I met:

    - After registration I received email with "Product Key" and "Serial Number". However CampTune X asked me to enter "Name" and "Serial".

    - The program uses worst fonts I've ever seen.

P.S. Image shown when there is no Windows OS - excellent trolling :)

    Hello mac_endevor,

    Thanks for you reply.
We'll fix incorrect names of key and serial in Camptune and find better fonts!

    Hi,

I also can't get past the part where it asks to enter your name and serial number. I used the serial number that was sent in the email. I'm looking forward to testing the new version of CampTune X. Thanks.

    1-A
    2-A
    3-A
4-A - Advanced user mode with possibility to see and edit all the partitions on disk, not only Boot Camp.
5-A - Yes, Bootcamp partition copy for backup or migration to other disks.

I must say the way it is now (Beta version 1.0) it is a very simply, efficient and idiot proof application that does perfectly what is suppose to, without issues.

For those having problems passing the registration screen, just use the provided key inplace of your name. That should do it.

Yes to all, except for what has already been mentioned. That is, the fonts could be better, and the Name should be product key. Also, on the page where I put in my key, the header "Registration" is a little off. But that's it. It does everything it should. :D

Just tried it and have problems:

    I had two partitions:
    MACOSX 215GB, 45GB free
    BOOTCAMP 40GB

I tried to resize them, relocating 20GB from the MACOSX partition to the BOOTCAMP one.

The process failed and logs were sent (my mail is icarri at gmail.com)

After that i have some problems:

MACOSX partition new size is 195GB with 25GB free (so the 20GB are missing and nowhere to be found)
BOOTCAMP partition size is still 40GB and while i can access to it and read/write, windows no longer start in VMWare, returning the error:

Cannot open the disk '/Users/Icarri/Library/Application Support/VMware Fusion/Virtual Machines/Boot Camp/Boot Camp.vmwarevm/Boot Camp.vmdk' or one of the snapshot disks it depends on.

Reason: The partition table on the physical disk has changed since the disk was created. Remove the physical disk from the virtual machine, then add it again.

How can i recover those 20GB missing?
How can i make the bootcamp partition bootable again?

UPDATE: Using the disk utility i see the space unallocated there, and can assign it back to the macosx partition (i haven't yet, i prefer to wait for your answer).

    Second update:

    I answered myself:

    - How can i recover those 20GB missing?

I just expanded the MACOSX partition to take that free space using Disk Utility.

    - How can i make the bootcamp partition bootable again in VMWare?

I did a google search and found how to recover the bootcamp partition in VMWare. Just had to delete the virtual machine and let VMWare to create it again. It doesn't affect at all the bootcamp partition data, it's a safe process.

Then i tried the process again and it worked fine, doing exactly the same, so i don't know what did it happen the first time. I suspect it might be related to admin rights, as the first time i ran camptune i was asked twice for the admin password, first when running the app, then again when doing the resizing process. The second and successful time, i was asked for the admin pass only when running camptune, but not when resizing.

Anyway problems solved and camptune worked fine this second time, my partitions are resized and both OSX Lion and windows 7 work fine.

That's why I think CampTune could take advantage of an advanced user mode, that could locate and edit this free spaces as I had a similar problem and had to use another application to allocate the free space partition I had created before to enlarge BootCamp disk. Resizing BootCamp disk in CampTune only took disk space from OSX partition without even showing the free space partition that remained the same.

    Hello IvanC,

HFS+ resize didn't work as expected in you case. You can resize you HFS+ volume up using Disk Utility, it's totally safe.
Unfortunately, current version of log saver doesn't collect all required information to discover your issue. We will update log saver to diagnose and fix this problem ASAP.

For everybody in this thread: if you've faced this issue, please provide us with "sudo dmesg" terminal output:
Open Terminal Utility (Applications-Utilities-Terminal), type in "sudo dmesg" (without quotes), press Enter and type in your password.
    Thanks!

    1. Was your redistribute operation successful?
    c. No then yes.
It locked up my MacBook Pro the first time I tried using it. I had to hard boot (power off) and then the process worked perfectly other than being unclear that it was done.

    2. Was the process intuitive?
    c. Kinda sorta.
I didn't realize how much free space I had until I tried moving the bar all the way over. It would be helpful to indicate used space with another color like red and some text describing the amount.

    3. Were all dialogs and menus in program clear to you?
    b. No.
The checking partition status indicators don't animate. This makes it appear that the app has crashed.
In addition when the process was done there was no success indicator.

    4. Do you think that Camptune for Mac OS X needs additional features?
    a. Yes.
As I mentioned it should indicating free space.

    6. Do you think that Camptune solution functionality needs to be extended?
    a. Yes.
It would be awesome if it could handle creating Boot Camp partitions itself and most of all if it could do so on external drives.

Downloaded and installed CampTune X Beta on Apple MacBook Pro (2008 Penryn) running Mac OS X Lion v10.7.1.
    1. Was your redistribute operation successful?
No. (If No: please send us the log files and describe your problem shortly)
The first attempt failed with my machine giving a Finder has stop working error.
    Had to reboot.
Could not find any log files.
Second attempt at "Redistribution" went off flawlessly :D
Original BootCamp size 81GB original and Mac OS partition 636GB
BootCamp new size 154GB and Mac OS partition 596GB.
    Both operating systems boot flawlessly.

Aside from installation dialogue incorrectly wanting Name and Serial Number
as opposed to Product Key (Name) and Serial number entered.

The process was intuitive and logical but an active (percentage completed / time remaining) "pacifier" would be apprecated as opposed to the hardly moving installation bar.

No additional features need to be added! The program does a rather intricate and critical job very well as per it's brief.. The "KISS" principle at its best!

    3). Yes
4). Yes. I would like to have the ability to create and format to NTFS a partition like in the previous versions. Critical for me.

used 10.7 on a 160gb drive which had 40gb of free space on the mac partition and a 20gb windows partition.
resized the windows 7 (64) partition from 20 to 30 GB and it went through without error.
it seems to have messed up the partition table though.
noticed when it was done there was now an extra Windows in Finder.

    Screen Shot 2011-10-31 at 8.20.37 PM.png

    here's the diskutil output

    macbook:CampTune X pat$ diskutil list
    /dev/disk0
    #: TYPE NAME SIZE IDENTIFIER
    0: GUID_partition_scheme *160.0 GB disk0
    1: EFI 209.7 MB disk0s1
    2: Apple_HFS Lion 124.2 GB disk0s2
3: Microsoft Basic Data Windows 20.0 GB disk0s4
    4: Apple_Boot Recovery HD 650.0 MB disk0s5
5: Microsoft Basic Data Windows 29.8 GB disk0s6

i'll reboot and see if anything changed.

edit: it seems now is back to normal. noticed that recovery hd isn't the last partition anymore.
    /dev/disk0
    #: TYPE NAME SIZE IDENTIFIER
    0: GUID_partition_scheme *160.0 GB disk0

    3: Apple_Boot Recovery HD 650.0 MB disk0s3
4: Microsoft Basic Data Windows 29.8 GB disk0s4

    2. Was the process intuitive?
    a. Yes, but it'd be good if during the resize dialog it showed you the free space of each partition.

    3. Were all dialogs and menus in program clear to you?
    a. Yes.
Noticed it says Camptune and not CampTune at the top of the window.

    4. Do you think that Camptune for Mac OS X needs additional features?
the ability to designate a hard drive for windows only. i think this would be tough for usb though. if it was for internal only that'd be ok.

    6. Do you think that Camptune solution functionality needs to be extended?

Experienced hard lockup after moving the redistribution slider (and then clicking continue). Forced to power cycle computer. Tried several times. Dmesg and diskutil output follows. Never got to the screen where i can save off logs... if they're stored somewhere let me know. Computer still works.

Has anyone found a solution to this? My Mac side was correctly partitioned but my Bootcamp partition won't even show up. Is there a way to recover it?

Yes. I've had that problem a couple times.

I always booted my Window installation CD-ROM and select "Startup Repair." Its an automatic process.

This is for Windows 7, but previous versions of Windows have had this too. There is also the Recovery Console where you can issue advanced commands (google that)... but I have never had to resort to that.

Hold down the option key during startup, and after a few secs, the boot menu will show DVD/CD as an option. You can also hold the 'c' key to boot directly, but I've never tried that.

are you saying a windows repair caused the windows partition to show up in startup disk again?

I think it could be related to camptune x moving the windows partition AFTER the recovery hd partition. that's just a theory though.

So I downloaded the beta software and attempted to try it out and it is stuck at the "Your system is being scanned for a Boot Camp Configuration" screen and goes no where. I've let it sit for quite some time. I've rebooted and tried, repaired permissions and tried... nothing. From start to finish I downloaded the program, moved it to the applications folder like it asks, started it from there, entered the info from the email and hit continue and then it just sits there. Am I doing something wrong?

    thanks
