AVG's File Scanner is labeled as BETA.
We've contacted them and received a preliminary answer in which they asked for the malware set etc.

Then, we received no other answer.

Thank you for answering my question Pykko. So the AVG that is available in the Android market is useless?

My test was done on-demand. I can't tell for on-access. I think it can succesfully detect infected applications once you try to install them.

The detection rate is unknown for that.

Lookout doesn't scan the SD card on-demand.

Thanks for the test info. I've been using Zoner and it has worked pretty well so far. Previous to that I used Webroot but they were slow to fix a false positive so I had to switch.

I see AVG's results are on par with their PC products... :D Most of the rest of them actually did better than I expected.

They don't provide any option to scan on-demand the SD card, but only the installed apps.

For what it's worth, WSA for Android is not the same as WSA for desktop.

Thanks for that Joe! I'm sure it will be improved along the way though correct?
