    Feedback From ESET

I would appreciate an ESET MOD giving an explanation as to why it is taking so long (months is is soon to become years) to resolve this bug.

It happens to me with v4 machine but not on my v5 machine. I suppose that is down to luck and which other software I have installed as others are still experiencing problems with v5.

It reduces my productivity when the dialog appears as I have to click on it to see if there is a problem. Also disturbs my focus on the task I was performing at the time which can be problematic when I am doing something more complex that requires my full attention.

So please ESET, is there an update on your progress toward bug resolution?

I think it would be good if the MODs could also visit this or other similar thread with quarterly update / progress reports.

    Thanks in advance

Yes, really ESET folks. How hard can it be to put debug code into whatever module it is that displays this message to take a snapshot of the state of the system at the time the message is displayed and then work from there to figure out how you got into that state? Produce such a debug version, send it to me and I will happily assist you in finding the cause of this. I've been a programmer for 30+ years and this should not be rocket science. Its problem determination 101.

Same here (didn't start occurring, on two machines no less, until after I upgraded to v5)......just like the "GUI Resizing bug".

I'm not sure if ESET appreciates your desire and willingness to help resolve this, but I sure do.

A problem that has persisted for this long and that really (and let's be honest here) hasn't even been addressed by ESET is a little disturbing. I'm sure their thinking is that they have "more important" issues to concentrate on....but one of these days, that warning WILL be a valid one, and by then it will be too late because the end user just took it as another "boy who cried wolf" false alarm....

It all depends on how much ESET value their customers. Regular feedback and explanation outlining the reasons for delay and current progress of resolution is not hard to facilitate.

Seeking support from users to assist with the process would definitely be good practice.

Does this bug (pop up) also appear in Eset Smart Security?

The bug has surfaced in v4 & v5 versions of ESS as well as EAV.
ESET Team are working actively on the issue.

    Not yet.

Just cleaned the cache of my browsers, if you don't hear from me again then it's probably gone for good. : )

    Cheers.

    Edit: Just submitted a request.

Does everyone who is experiencing this issue need to submit a support request if the actions suggested in the KB article don't work?

I only experienced this very rarely on an XP machine with v5, but have just rebuilt my computer and am now running on a fresh install of Win 7 pro.

I am being plagued with these pop-ups. I only seem to get them after inserting removable media or switching users, but once they start they seem to keep flagging up repeatedly until the next reboot.

OK, thanks. I tried deleting my IE cache again yesterday, and haven't had a spurious notification since, but if it starts again I'll send a request.

Moments before I received a notice for my support request that I should contact my local sales representative about the problem.

    Is this a joke?

Please PM me your username so that I can check from which distributor you purchased your license. When reporting an issue to a different support team than the one you purchased your license from you are redirected to your local customer care, not to a sales department. You can PM me the reply you received for further investigation if you are positive that you were recommended to contact a sales department regarding a technical issue.

Thank you for the follow-up, it is appreciated. The more ghost pop-up Customer Care requests ESET gets, the faster the issue will be expedited.

Since disabling "Enable Gamer mode when running applications in full-screen mode automatically", which is on by default, the pop-up seemed to have stopped.

    At least for me.

    Cheers.
