It's a powerful AV but I really think GFI is -sadly- pushing it down.:thumbd:

this plus development slow down overall.
As I see it, they're not only pushing VIPRE down, but also other Sunbelt great ideas like ClearCloud DNS, CounterSpy, Sunbelt Personal Firewall...
Now, it might sound picky but the fact of changing the name from VIPRE Premium to VIPRE Internet Security 2012... I started using VIPRE cause it was different than most of the other AV products in many ways, including the name actually.

I agree with you that GFI seems to be trying to minimize the products not only in the ways you described but also with policies like no upgrade pricing for existing customers. Its a shame to see great products fall victim to acquisitions and politics. I always felt Sunbelt was a fantastic customer focused company and their president was very good as well even communicating directly with their customers via forums, emails, etc. I always feel like I lost a friend whenever this type of thing happens and I am forced to abandon ship.

I totally agree. The underlined text describes another way Sunbelt was different from the other vendors.

I can't imagine ever being able to have direct e-mail contact with the CEO of GFI.com

Guys, I'm still here. I lurk but I don't post much.

Since GFI acquired Sunbelt, we have had a massive influx of additional capital and development resources. We discontinued the Sunbelt Personal Firewall and CounterSpy because they didn't make sense anymore (and sales were basically zero). ClearCloud, we can argue that one, it was a great technology but was largely experimental on our part.

We've had 12 updates to VIPRE in a year. There's a lot under-the-hood that we have been improving on.

Another major project we've undertaken is our mobile product line, starting with VIPRE Mobile for Android. Take a look at the beta at vipremobile.com.

And, yes, you can always email me directly -- alexe(at)gfi.com.

Thanks for checking in Alex. It speaks volumes that a developer or CEO come on here and say "Hi".
With the discontinuing of Clearcloud, are there any plans to integrate it into a product?

The same block list that is included in ClearCloud is used by VIPRE Premium and VIPRE Internet Security's Web Filtering. The only difference is that the sites are blocked using different technology. However, there currently are no plans to implement this in VIPRE as a DNS service such as ClearCloud.

    Hello Alex
I purchased a 2PC 2 YEAR License Premium license 7 months ago and soon learned that because of the firewall's inability to properly see my workgroup computers, I needed to rollback to a Standard license. I miss not having some of the features I had with Premium, and encourage you to include the web filtering in the Standard AV.

It would be really great if you add the webfilter in Vipre AV. :thumb:

No web scanner? That's one reason I've steered clear of it myself.

    1. Webfilter for Vipre AV YES.
    2. AP monitors should come back. YES
    3. These are my two biggest complaints.

I'm agree with all the precedents posts, please reintegrate monitor and add webfilter.
It won't modify the efficacity of Vipre IS and the antivirus version will be more attractive. Concurrents are very well equiped in the antivirus edition.

Not at all Mister. While I really think GFI's acquisition over Sunbelt Software changed the way VIPRE and other home-user products were being managed, the presence of Alex Eckelberry here at Wilders and at GFI will continue to build rapport between customers and keep VIPRE on track.

Bottom line: I don't like what GFI has done so far, but I do appreciate Alex Eckelberry being as commited as always with the customers.
