esets_daemon At Startup for Macintosh Lion

Hi,
Every time I start up my mac (Lion 10.7.2) the esets_daemon uses 150% of my cpu and doesn't stop for hours. It causes the fan to kick on high and my computer gets hot.
I have:
MacBook
13-inch Mid 2007
Processor 2.16 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
Memory 4 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM

What is going on? TIA

First, do you use the latest version of ESET Cyber Security 4.0.72.1 ?
If not then update to that version and see if things improve.

 

esets_daemon does the same thing with me - and I am on Snow Leopard 10.6.8.

When I startup the cpu goes to 150% for a minute of two - not hours but still frustrating.

What is worse is every time I open a program like Word, Excel, etc. the cpu is again "hijacked" by esets_daemon for a minute or more. This makes the experience really bad.

Please look into it guys - this is a recent thing - been using Eset for almost a year now and this has only been a problem for the last couple of weeks.

But it is a BIG problem - one which has me thinking of un-istalling Eset.

 

I do have the latest. This is getting very anoying. I bought ESET Cybersecurity for the great product and quality. Tell me what information you need from me. I would really like this product to work properly.

 

With 10 months left for my subscription (I paid for 3 Mac), decided to give ESET Cybersecurity 4.0.72.1 another try. Installed ESET Cybersecurity 4.0.72.1 on my MacBook Air (with 4GB RAM) running Lion 10.7.1. By the way, ESET Cybersecurity 4.0.72.1 is the only security software installed on my Mac.

Performance was fine after the installation. But, soon the system became slow and sometime not responsive.

I noticed ESET Cybersecurity 4.0.72.1 will perform a system scan automatically after the virus signature update and this might be one of the reason that slow down the system. Though I have disable the automatically system scanning after virus signature update in the scheduler option, but ESET Cybersecurity 4.0.72.1 still continue to perform the system scan after signature update.

As with others in this forum, I do truly hope ESET Cybersecurity will eventually works well with my Mac. Else I am going to waste the 10 months subscription as the ESET reseller in my country is not willing to refund the money.

 

I am still getting the problem where the cpu usage goes to 150% for hours. The only way I can stop this is to go to Tools/Scheduler/ and turn off (uncheck) both Automatic startup files for System startup file check User login and Successful update of the virus signature database.
Again, I am still running the latest version (4.0.72.1).
Please advise

 

ESET's developers are aware of the issue and a fix is being developed in the next build which should be released soon.
