In short, what you say is good for a PR manager, but been said under the title of "security expert" is a kind of oxymoron.

"user expects from a solid antivirus" is true evidence that you "sell" "what user expects" instead of "what security needs".

    quote:
"OA++ just adds an onExecution scan"

but this is where security starts. Until _something_ is executed, _something_ is absolutely safe.

I will not comment on the rest of the "key differences", but I believe this is absolutely obvious, that a single product is better than the two doing the same real work. All those "quarantines" and "advanced on demand scans" are nothing, but "whistles&bells".

PS. I believe it would be fair if you changed your title from "security expert" to "software vendor". This would not confuse the people. People do not expect that "security expert" is a person who promote some special security product.

Best wishes to your hard work :)

BTW, talking about "spring" OA release it had not only "onExecution" scan, but "after executable was created" scan as well. Have you stripped this scan from OA?

In that case you need to change your title also.

    alex_s,

Just for good measure, you are a former OA developer/Tall Emu&Emsisoft employee, right?

That is correct. He was the main developer behind OA and he was departed from them.

This is possible, but I'm afraid your proposition for my title can be not universal. Do you think "security expert" would be good enough? :)

Yep, this is why I know well what scan types OA had in the past. Can't say for today, though.

PS. BTW, using appropriate tools anybody can check it out. If you are interested I can advise you on their usage.

This needs correction to be truth. He was departed because he could not accept emsisoft approach to security. He never tried to be a part of emsisoft, his soul was with OA, but after emsisoft bought OA his approach and emsisoft approach could not find a common ground. BTW, I do not sorry for this, I believe third party security is a blind alley now, when MS turned his eye to desktop aspect of security. I'm actually happy with what I do currently, but I hate when somebody (even current OA owner) misinforms OA users about what OA can do. I believe no marketing can justify misinformation. After all, 99% of OA was developed not in emsisoft, this MUST cause some kind of respect from emsisoft to what they bought :-/

Alex, please do all of us a favor and stop trolling in OA related threads.

Seriously, there is not benefit you can gain here. Fact is: You were not able to integrate into the Emsisoft team properly, therefore development of OA continues without you now. That's business, sorry to say.

While I can understand that you still feel dedicated to OA and are frustrated about losing your job and your 'baby', I have to say, please try to let it go its own way, forever. Nobody is interested in your debates about 'truth'.

    Thanks.

I wish you all the best for the future and hopefully we can see your own firewall product which does everything better soon. ;)

Chris, four posts during the three months cannot be blamed throlling under any conditions. But when you say OA has _only_ on-executiton scan and I know this is not true, I cannot keep silence. After all, I still have some feelings to what I did.

So I have counteroffer proposition. Just be truthful when talking about OA. This is not my fault that you did mistake, but since I'm a person who suffered from your mistake, I feel myself free toward you.

And thank you for revealing this fact. I have started to get PMs with the thanks for OA. Actually, this is very very pleasant. I'm really touched.. I could never think that you can be a reason of any good for me :)

PS. BTW. I don't mind if you change my title at this forum to "former OA developer who was departed by emsisoft". You are moderator, so this change is in your power :)

    LOL.

OK. I dropped this idea, I just do not have enough resources to do this, even having all the skills (working for OA doesn't make your millionaire, you know). I need to feed my family (two children and my wife) and I cannot get a risk to leave them without a food (I'm the only feeder).

So you can feel yourself safe in your market segment.

My name is Barthez and i don't support this message.

alex_s, please continue to express your opinions on this forum. emsisoft, if you think that some user is trolling then report him, or delete his posts. Pointing fingers and calling someone a troll is not a way to solve those kind of issues. At least from my perspective.

    EDIT - grammatic mistake.

Thanks Christian Mairoll for the great product.
I have always used OA++ from day one and liked it very much.
Now since I have traded my OA++ keys for OA premium and EAM I must say I like the combo better. I hate change (especially when Mike sold out) , but these two products are a great combination can't wait till they are melted into one exe. I notice that both have "Blacklist" capabilities, The surf protection list in EAM is very good, but very slow to add new larger lists. The blacklist in OA is easy to use and fast. I hope you keep both! And the country block list!
No slow downs what so ever, except what was mentioned above.

You used OA++ from the day one and you thank Christian instead of Mike? Something is wrong here. I'd say deadly wrong, and deadly unfair.

Thanks Mike. I did not like it when he sold out, as stated. Things change (I hate change) you have to move on whether you like it or not. I have gotten over it.
The product is still as good, if not better. I am a happy customer, that's all.

This is just a matter of justice. Everything must go on, but justice. And although the business has nothing to do with justice, the more people care about it the more justice you can find out there :)
