I really don't see your point.

Just because Eric Schmidt believes something does not mean that Chrome is suddenly evil or that Google is evil.

    http://www.mattcutts.com/blog/google-chrome-communication/

Anyways, that whole Eric Schmidt quote's so overused. You should listen to some other things he says.

Oh and not to mention that the article you posted is REALLY reaching. He said that if you're worried about someone seeing you doing something you should really consider why and whether or not you should be doing something.

Therefor the article someone takes that to mean that he thinks anyone who cares about privacy is a horrible person.

I mean really. Read what he said. MAybe like 15 words and they're extrapolating an entire article.

And of course, again ,this has litearlly no bearing on the OPEN SOURCE project started by Google.

Like I said, anything you actually believe about Google is probably due to misinformation.

I don't really care for what else he has to say. Someone who invades my privacy for no other reason than making money is someone i'm not interested in and certainly not someone who's stuff I would use if it's not necessary, but to each his own of course.

No, although it scores high on browser tests I don't find it fast nor light at all in real world usage ... might just be me :p

I can go with that. Someone's principals can be important. I've done similar things (which people gently mock me for).

Privacy issueso_O Why in the hell would Google be concerned about someone like me and what I was doing using their browser on the internet?
Are the Chrome police going to show up at my house or something?

Careful, you're sounding like someone, Hungry.

Any 'ol way, I thought, thought and thought some more and tried Chrome yet again, both the Beta and Dev. I'm really discouraged having to say I still face too many problems. Is there a reason they can't get something as simple as a Back Button to work properly? Also, for a browser that is climbing and climbing on the market share charts, and after a few years of being in existence, can someone please share why "mainstream" (meaning widely popular) websites are still touch and go in Chrome?

I've tried, I really have, since Chrome 10 in fact. The good experience just isn't there, much as I've reminded myself other factors could be at play, once those factors are removed or at least investigated, I get the same results time and time again. I was so happy to see ABP working damn near flawlessly now (although Ghostery still fails often..but considering they haven't updated in forever, I don't blame Chrome)..and so disappointed to see the same issues over and over and over.

As much as I'd like to keep giving them chances, I just can't on a machine I have to use daily. :(

    Hey dw
Maybe I don't get out enough... don't go to enough different places or something, but I haven't experienced the "touch and go" you refer to, and the back button issue is news to me as well.

Eh, Page, it's just my luck I guess. Some websites still don't load properly, some even choke. The back button issue just about made me bald. Every website I went to, whether here at Wilders or elsewhere, you couldn't go back a page. It just sat there, spinning the loading icon until it just landed me on the same page I was currently on.

Same reasons I do not use google products, heck I don't even use their search engine anymore if I can avoid it. I like duckduckgo now and no privacy concerns with it.

    Yeah I tried duckduckgo once.

I tested it out with "How do I build a lamp?" in both search engines.

Google: Results showing me how to buy/ build lamps
DuckDuckGo: IDK completely random stuff with the words "how" "do" "I" "built" "a" and "lamp" in them.

The quality of the search was very different.

    But that's besides the point.

Feel free to opt out of Google's adsense tracking etc if it bothers you. And Chrome and Google search are entirely different products. If one has an issue it does not mean the other does.

Chromium is an open source project. They have a team that is literally dedicated to privacy alone. If you have concerns with privacy feel free to bring it up with their team or, hell, look at the source code yourself so you can see there's nothing snooping your info.

Not sure what sites aren't working for you. I personally haven't had problems but I'm sure they exist.

Back button works fine for me though I usually use alt + left arrow key.

What other issues do you have? Just curious, not saying there are solutions haha

Lol, Chrome just hates me, what can I say? :D Here's one example of a website http://icanhascheezburger.com/ (yes, it's the LOL Cats...shut it, lol). This one absolutely destroys Chrome for me. It'll be okay on the main page, but when you go to page two or more, it'll either take a good minute or more (literal minute), or Chrome will "Oh snap" itself in surrender. Um, let's see, Pogo.com has a lot of trouble loading games for me as well under Chrome. What I get there is the loading page on a game continuously, and then, if it does anything else, it'll show a "Having a problem" page.

Pogo is one of those off/on websites. Some times it'll work okay enough, but then it'll throw fits on me. As far as the back button, well, I already explained what happens with that, and I'm still confused as to what the problem is. I rarely use keyboard shortcuts, lol. I reserve keyboard activities for games. I guess I'm not one of the trendy "cool cats" in that respect, but I do my thing, everybody can do theirs :D

    strange issues you are having.
i just tried 4-5 pages from that site.
the pages takes a few seconds to load because there's so much stuff but otherwise everything is fine here.
