    I vote for F-Prot. Panda simply has too many problems with everything.
    Also i doubt in its efficiency. F-Prot engine is very powerful. But if you want a free AV,try it and you will see if its ok.

    The problem is in users, not in software...

    hmmm... since you don't want avast. I second f-prot, if those are your only two options. DrWeb is also a good and simple AV to use. I'm sure there are many others, but I haven't tried them (yet :D ).

    NOD32, last I heard, is a very nice one for home users, even if it can't detect trojans that well.

    Avast is okay as a free AV, but I don't think you'd want to pay for it. The only heuristics it has are for mail scanning, and it can slow down older computers pretty badly.

    dear Stephan123, if you are running XP and have RAM > 128MB then i'll suggest Panda. its a very good AV with a solid Firewall. way way better than AVG or AntiVir PE or other free AVs. F-Prot certainly detects a lot of viruses. its memory usage is very low infact the lowest. so if you need good protection with small memory footprint go for F-Prot. the configurability is nice in Windows 9x but in Windows 2k/XP the On-Access scanner configuration is missing. though its not a big deal as the default setting is safe.

    in Windows 9x Panda has some stability issues. F-Prot runs fine on both 9x and XP. do one thing, get your Panda and F-Prot, evaluate them both.

    thats a fast system. i think you should use Panda. i never had any problems with Support and they replied within 12 hours. updates are daily and it protects you against the latest threats. actually no matter what AV you use the real deal is to practice safe computing. just surf safely and you'll see that you don't need anything more than Panda. i'm suggesting it because you'll save some money with which you can buy a good Antitrojan or something like that.

    I would choose Panda Titanium. It has very good heuristics detection, it is fast, has daily updates ...

    F-prot dissapointed me!

    Btw: Don't you know what is past simple?

    @RejZoR:

    Do we know each other? :D :D :D :D

    I'm sory for compilcating but I actually thought that you don't know past tenses. But let's stay on topic. :D

    If you asked about Panda, I just recommended you Titanium because it is better than Platinum.

    I would suggest you F-secure or Norman Virus control. Norman really rox!!
