I realize I must be a dinosaur, but I cannot get myself to trust Facebook or other similar sites. I'll try to see what else I can get.

I signed up for this. Hopefully it works out to a free year of Avira IS. That would be sweet! I can always use a security suite for the wife's laptop.

I agree 100%. I can't stand these sites and worse yet, all the companies assuming you use them with their deals and offers.

How does the sweepstake work, would they offer free license or is it like a Draw and only those get the free license who win in the draw ?

Does everyone who signs up at their FB page, get a free license ?

    Hi Saeed,

Everyone who enters the sweepstakes will receive free license key But, the subscription period is unknown, its not mentioned by Avira. What they told is, that for every 10000 likes (before Oct 17th) Avira will add a month more to the subscription period.

Hope this clears your doubt :)

Update : Looks like the subscription period is for 12 months. :D Check the below link.

I don't use Facebook either, but if I did, having to install an otherwise unwanted app to enter would stop me from entering anyway..

I wonder if we can add the app to a fake Facebook account, get the Avira license key and install the suite - then just uninstall the app? The idea of having a fake Facebook for the app is ok except that Facebook is accused of following people across the net, collecting data, even when a person is signed out of Facebook.

Wow, to be honest Facebook isn't really bad. It's just people using it for the wrong purposes, it can be a great tool.
Anyways, i don't use Facebook either.

(As i've always said, i'm the only person i know that has 18 years old that doesn't has a Facebook, everyone asks for it and i say hmm i don't have and they think like WTF?!?! YOU DON'To_O) :D :D

Hopefully it'll be a year and not a month :p

"The length of the licenses will depend on the amount of new fans that our page gains during this campaign. For every 10,000 new fans that join our community, we’ll add one month to the length of the licenses. In other words, if we gain 120,000 new fans during this campaign, then the Avira Internet Security 2012 license that everyone will win will last for one full year."

I believe the Avira page had ~30k likes when the promo started and just passed 140k likes with another 1 1/2 weeks to go in the promo. So the license will be 11 months minimum but a 12 month license at this point is all but a given.

Seems like a deal that is too good to be true. Anyone who hasn't signed up for face book just for this deal is missing out probably :p
