Sorry if this has been asked and answered already. I just purchased Webroot Security Essentials 2011. Will this license be good for the new product? Thanks.

    congratulations.

i am licenced prevx user. i will try new WSA and i am waiting upgrade news.
    I have two question about WSA;

-Is there infection removal limit? Prevx stopped scan when 256 infections found (count maybe different, i dont remember certainly) This situation same as WSA? So can i scan my whole malware archive?

-Is there automatic upload for unknown files to cloud like Kingsoft PC doctor?

There is no infection removal limit now and we don't automatically upload unknown files (we may upload some but we intentionally try to not upload samples as they are time consuming and expensive to store/process).

We will be allowing transitions to WSA from 2011 but this process isn't 100% implemented yet. Over the next few weeks, you'll see this fully functioning and you should be upgraded to the equivalent Essentials from WSA.

    Hope that helps!

yes congrats Joe and the P-Team!

btw, did community based "Herd Intelligence" go away? i used to luv that. it was like Russian Roulette, where someone had to fall on the sword to protect the rest of the 'Community'.

    good times!

We don't have to sacrifice anyone anymore, although protection does improve as more users see a threat :)

I don't get to see any of my code on store shelves, just on other monitors :( Must be a good feeling though. I hope you got to experience the weekend heatwave in the UK?

I would think a 1yr license would be a great gesture!

After reading all the posts I am not certain what version of WSA one has to buy to get the functionality of Prevx SaveonLine. Will that version, whatever it is, be compatible with eg. GesWall? PSoL is not compatible with GesWall. Looking forward to your replies.

The Essentials version has Identity Shield (the new SafeOnline) in it. I haven't used GesWall so I'll let other members here answer for that.

I'm not sure if this is the proper thread to post this but I'll do it anyway.

First of all, by no means I want to be harsh towards the developers. This being said, I want to complain about a couple of things:

-First, we've been waiting for MONTHS for a STABLE version of Prevx supporting FF4+. If you wanted to keep using your Prevx you had to either use FF3 or use a beta Webroot SA or whatever the name is. Unacceptable for paying customers.

-Second, now we have the real deal at Webroot but, oh surprise, paying customers will be transitioned in an amazing fast COUPLE of months! Unacceptable again.

The product may be nice, may be still rocking the internet security world but: I payed $100+ for 3 damn licenses just after the purchase of Prevx by Webroot because they promised that they'd never give up on loyal customers.

So now tell me: did they do what they promised? Of course, no. It will be a 8-10 months gap between the release of FF4 until I can actually use a stable Prevx version with my existing licenses.

Am I wrong? If not, will I get an extra period of licensing or maybe a refund?

    Thanks.

We agree that this is unacceptable and we're working to fix this as quickly as possible. It's a large hassle on our end to still support the Prevx 3.0 infrastructure as well so believe me, we're trying to get this transitioned ASAP.
