I hope you're not brave to much ;)
You probably do scan your computer with some on-demand scanner, don't you?

I decided I won't be removing MD: I just don't feel comfortable with all those processes runing around my system. They NEED control... :)

i'm thinking strongly about adding Look 'n' Stop Firewall.
I've always had some firewall to handle outbound connection.
i think there should be such a thing in Windows own firewall , but anyway...

you should be more than fine with that setup m8.
99.9% of security problems originate 18 inches away from the monitor. ;)

Trying EMSISOFT 6.0 beta. So far, very pleased both with performance and detection, except for hogging my CPU (AMD triple core at 2.90 Ghz) at 100% during windows folder scan.

What prompted the change to IE9?

i always to like to try to reduce the numbers of app i use.
"small is beautiful" and all that. ;)

i feel the speed and security aspects are now close enough between those 2 browsers to not make it matter that much which one i use.

of course, there are things that one browser does better than the other, and vice-versa.
i love Speckie in IE9, Chrome has a more polished and snappier feel to it, etc...

the SmartScreen filter gets on my nerves though. ;)

Exactly what vector for attack is everyone most concerned about, with all these continual changes to their security setup?

    Just curious.

For myself, my only concern was for attacks that could be successful without my input, namely web-based exploits - and also to keep things as light and unobtrusive as possible. Since doing that, I haven't radically altered a thing (other than tightening my sandboxes as I learn more).

OS-based and Java. Those are the two biggest issue I have.

RJK3 excellent question and IMHO worth a thread of its own.

My main vulnerability is downloads. I am still trying to figure out the best way to check them after taking them out of the sandbox.

hit them with HMP, then virustotal if you feel it's warranted.

I don't run Trusteer my friend. I just tested it in a VM once recently and let you know it was working. It doesn't work right with my setup so I stop using it.

    Windows 7 Prof. x64 SP1:
    UAC at max level
    Applocker
EMET at max protection (all internet facing apps added, pdf reader, openoffice,...)
    NortonDNS

    Real-Time protection:
Comodo Internet Security 5.5 (Proactive configuration)
    MBAM Pro
Appguard (thanks jmonge !!, still not sure if I will use/keep it)

    On demand:
    Hitman Pro
    AVZ
    Dr.Web CureIT
    Comodo Cleaning Essentials

    Firefox:
Adblock Plus (Easylist + EasyGerman, EasyPrivacy, Fanboy's List + P2P + Tracking/Stats Blocking + International Tracking/Stats Blocking, Facebook, Malware Domains)
    HTTPS-Everywhere
    HTTPS-Finder
    Flashblock
    LastPass

My security setup gets more and more tools (started with CIS only) but so far I can't feel any slow downs. I removed Trusteer Rapport as it gave me a lot of freezings.. and I feel save enough so far. Thought about adding Avast free AV with Behaviour,Network,Script & Web shield.. will see :)

But I must admit that it is worth the purchase. Program is a lightweight, stable and functional. It is a true install and forget.

Only one thing missing to be perfect: Give full support to Chrome.
