We hand out free licenses as well as other stuff from time to time to active testers. That being said we don't offer free licenses to all testers. We did that in the past and the result was tons of people joining the test, grabbing the free license and disappearing afterwards.

So far I have been using this software since beta release and Im very happy with it. Its very rare Ive been using the same product for so long :thumb:

My license is almost running out - what do I do?

    A few comments:
    - The interface is getting better - I really like the 'old-school' way because its simple and easy to use. The buttons (miminize, close, maximize) needs some more work though IMO.
    - Why did u remove HijackThis from the main interface? (I know i can find it in tray etc.)
    - Ive had problems with the first web page i entered took some seconds before it would even start loading the web page. After that surfing was fast. This initial slowdown seems to be gone now :thumb:
    - I still have this problem, windows reporting EAM turned off after shelduled scan (eventhough it isn't turned off). Ive searched EAM folder for ELF files, but cant seem to find any.
    - All automatic updates (also program updates) have completed without any problems.

    Looking forward for new releases

    Check your PMs :).

It boils down to the fact that the HiJackFree entry never really fit in. It behaves in a way a normal user doesn't expect and isn't used to from all other menu entries. So essentially it was breaking the consistency inside the user interface. We received a growing amount of negative feedback due to that. Users were confused that suddenly the EAM GUI disappeared when clicking on it. Some of them even wrote bug reports about the user interface crashing when clicking the menu item. Others complained about the fact that clicking the entry by accident is very punishing due to the fact that the original user interface instance is closed.
Now combine this with the fact that only a handful of users actually use HiJackFree you will hopefully understand why we removed it. I am certain users who like to use it will still be able to find it in the start menu group or the tray icon popup menu.

May I ask what scheduled scan settings you use? I tried to reproduce it using a memory only scan but wasn't able to reproduce it. Maybe it's caused by a certain combination of scan options set.

A new beta build is available through online update.

    Changes from 6.0.0.35 to 6.0.0.36:
    • Changed the header slightly so clicks on the most top right pixel are now counted as clicks on the "close" button.
    • Corrected a few visual inconsistencies with the "License expires in" field on the "Security Status" view.
    • The left hand menu sometimes didn't disappear when switching to a different application window. This has been fixed.
    • Fixed a race condition that caused Emsisoft Anti-Malware and consequently the entire system to freeze on seemingly random occasions.

yes it was good at removing Trojans, Backdoors, Spyware, Adware, Worms, Keyloggers, Bots and Dialers :)
with the integration of a second scan engine, Emsisoft Anti-Malware became a full tool against all types of harmful software, including all types of Viruses :thumb:

Decided to try it again after quite a while and for me the problem with the restarting of the service and Windows action center reporting EAM is turned off is solved. Good work! I also like the way the GUI was changed.

    @ Fabian Wosar

Hi Fabian, i'd like to know if the actual EAM 5.1 will be automatically updated to the 6.0 (when it will be released the final version) or like the most AV, the engine will be the same and will be updated the daily database only.

    Thank you!

Interesting but it's not very detailed, did it use an in house engine (EAM) or it used a licensed engine such as Ikarus. :)

until version 3.5.0.22 it only used the in house A2 antimalware engine which comes from the anti-spyware and anti-trojan domain. In version 4.0.0.50 Emsisoft added a second antivirus scan engine to improve detection quality. This is the Ikarus antivirus engine . And the rest is history......;)

Just check the "Beta updates" box in the settings of v5.1 and run an online update to see what happens for all users on the release day. :)

Anti-Malware 5.1 offers to update to v6 automatically. All users with valid licenses get the new version for free, as usual.

Anyone using the beta with Online Armor? Is it a troublefree combo?

yes no issues, maybe the Windows action center bug in some system. easily fixable by turn off-on the File Guard of EAM.

Thanks guys. I'll try the combo when I have time. Have to say again though, I'm pretty impressed with EAM 6.0 beta. Getting better with each new build. Even with the built-in firewall only, it's really good protection, also the FP rate they rave about everywhere is very low with me, I think Norton has a higher rate with its Download Insight.

One thing though, i run Emsisfot Anti-Malware v6 + Online Armor BETA and they run without a single issue, no compatibility problems BUT you might notice a bit of lag when the PC is booting up :D

Well, I decided to put Sandboxie with EAM instead of Online Armor. So far it's running smooth and trouble-free.
