Joe has said that you can run ESS with WSA! If you have any issues please report them here! Just make sure that WSA has full access through ESS Firewall and HIPS! https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showpost.php?p=1937551&postcount=615

    TIA,

    TH

Change log hasn't been issued for this. They're supposed to be coming soon. I think when we're all on the same beta builds perhaps.

Switching from one snapshot into another, and I get a WSA update for new v8.0.0.25. ;)

In the last couple of hours I started to get a keyboard/mouse freeze problem. Several reboots, an incomplete System Restore because the system froze during the process, I had to resort to a safe mode boot. I went into services.msc > Disabled > WRSVC.

This has enabled my computer to regain normal operability, i.e. no system freezing.

It looks as if v8.0.0.25 has something to do with the freezing problem

I think it advisable that I keep WSA disabled in this snapshot for the present.

However, I have 2 other snapshots that are still at v8.0.0.15.

Joe, is there any way, that I can prevent automatic updates in these snapshots, because I wish to prevent any foreseeable problem occurring?

    Edit: amended my post

You can disable Automatic Updates under Basic Configuration, however, i'd be keen to get the issue solved as quickly as possible.

Could you send a scan log to report@prevxresearch.com so that I can take a look?

    Thanks!

    Hi Joe,

I'm still having problems entering banking info with Opera 11.51 as it still starts in the web address box even though the cursor is in the password box but if I turn off Identity Shield it works fine! WSA 8.0.0.25

Yesterday and this morning I tried some tests of links on Malware Domains List and it did not fare well on Ransomware. One of them was completely undetected and hijacked the virtual PC and another caused WSA to almost grind to a halt and not resolve itself even after 30 minutes.

After that last one I also noticed that even after restoring to a previous image I could no longer connect to the in web within the virtualbox (on linux mint), and also subsequently discovered that I could also no longer connect with linux. I rebooted a couple of times.

The connection gets as far as the Zyxel router, and the line looks clear, but it will not connect to a web address. When I dual boot back into Win 7 the connection is OK.

I am new to testing, so a question to all you experienced folk out there, can linux which hosts the VB, or even the router itself, be attacked or get malware from malware tests running within a virtual session under linux?! If so, how can a router be checked for malware? For checking linux I will run a linux AV scan, but I am concerned about rootkits or whatever not being detected.

Any suggestions or links appreciated, thanks.

Getting a false positive on libegl.dll, located in Google Chrome's application folder. The file is signed by Google and comes back clean at VirusTotal. I've sent the file via WSA for analysis, checking 'I know this file is safe'.

It might be best to write into our support team so that they can manually look at the file. We haven't finished tying the connection between the submit file dialog and the support/research teams yet.

    Thank you!

Just submitted two more files via WSA :ouch: I'll do as you suggested.

Forgot to ask, how do I draw their attention to the files in question?

If you save a scan log, sending the MD5 of the file in the scan log to the support team should let us get it fixed quickly :)

Is a delayed reaction (i.e. approx 15 seconds) when context-menu scanning individual files a known issue?
I thought this was fixed with latest (8.0.0.25) build, but seems to recur from time to time.

I really wish I could actively participate in this thread by finding a problem or issue with WSA...but I can't. This is a seriously good security application :)

    I'd call that participation, Scoobs.

I agree and I would like to be a serious malware tester, but not competent enough. Its smooth, but how good it is? Its too early to say in my opinion. I expect it to be up at the top with known malware as well as with 0day attacks. Some reports here indicate it isnt there quite yet.

    Best Regards

Any ideas yet on what us Beta testers and Prevx License holders can look forward to when this gets released?

    Hello
As you can tell I am new here. The reason for joining this thread is because I have been beta testing SecureAnywhere v.8.0.0.38. So far I have not been too impressed with the effectiveness of the scans. When we get an infected system in our shop we install a copy of WSA and test it. We do not quarantine any threats we just run a scan. Then I install WAV and see what it finds and so far the WSA has not found much compared to WAV. I also run MBAM and it finds more infections after WAV and WSA removes their findings. Any comments on this? o_O
