    Hi

Is anyone still using this FW. I have set it up on my WinXP Pro laptop and it seems to work great. I tried the latest Comodo FW and it seemed to smoke the processor for some reason. Just wondering if the 2.4 version is still a dependable FW.

    thanks

    Ice,

I have XP Pro and have used Comodo Firewall 2.4.18.184, and haven't had a problem. However, I use the latest Comodo firewall because of important security changes since 2.4. I would encourage you to use the 5.5 version. Just download it, begin to install, and when you come to the options of whether you want the firewall alone, the firewall with defence plus, or the firewall with maximum protection, just choose the first option and go with default settings. After that, you shouldn't be maxing out your cpu at all. Hope I've helped, and maybe someone else will give you further advice.

thanks Surf. I tried the Firewall with Defense+ on the highest setting(Proactive security). I did not install the AV since I use Avast. I guess the pgm was checking stuff in the cloud and got stuck but it was using about 50% of the cpu. I have the latest version running great on my win7 32 pc but not on the winXP laptop. Maybe someone could shed some light on the issue. I've always liked the 2.4 version.

Had it before, but can't anymore on Windows 7 64-bit. Not that I'll ever use outdated security programs on production systems.
