    Hi,

ESS5 stops MS Exchange 2010 management console from connecting to the exchange server.

I've got ESS5 on 2 PC's and both have teh problem. If ESS5 is removed then the console connects perfectly.

Nothing appears logged in the firewall log.

    Any thoughts appreciated.

    thanks
    Rob

    Hello,

To obtain additional logging of what the firewall is blocking, please follow this article. Also, please clarify what the operating system is on the computers that have the MS Exchange 2010 management console installed.

    Thanks,

    Matt

    Hi,

I've established, by trial and error, that it is web access protection that is caising this.

If I turn http checking off in advanced setup then the Exchange console works.

    Firewall doesn't show anything blocked.

    thanks
    Rob

Does the problem persist after enabling pre-release updates and running a manual update?

    Hi,

yes, the problem still exists after pre-release updtes applied.

All exchange software is up to date.

I suspect ESET http scanner being enabled is running some sort of proxy filter as exchange console reports access denied when http scanner is enabled but works fine when it's off.

Don't wish to be rude but I'm not very impressed with the complete lack of interest in sorting this issue out.

No input from ESET for over 2 weeks.

I guess ESET isn't serious about Smart Security being used in a environment where MS EXchange needs administering.

I'd suggest contacting customer care and supplying them with 2 Wireshark logs. One with network communication captured when the issue occurs and the other with http filtering disabled when it works fine.

    Hi,

I will do this in the next day or so but I am surprised that no one at ESET wants to try to replicate this error by installing a copy of exchange at your end and seeing it for themselves.

    regards

Well, in all the years I've been using ESET products I've never seen such a lack of interest in resolving a problem as with this issue. I don't mind issues coming up but I do object to lack of interest in fixing them.

I've finally tracked down the problem and it is an issue that is new to ESS5 and is an ESET issue but as no one at ESET wanted to resolve it I assume you won't want to know what the issue is.

Obviousy the service I feel I received will cause me to re-assess whether I continue to use ESS after my next renewal date and whether to be such an advocate for ESS as I have been over the last 7+ years.
