Wondering if anyone is trying pre-release updates in V5.

I know in the beta version it was suggested 'not' to use.

Just want to get some feedback as to what others are doing.

    Thanks.

It seems to be downloading newer modules, so should be good.

Not yet. We'll announce when it's safe to enable pre-release updates. This will happen as soon as v5 and other version modules get unified (probably within 1-2 weeks).

It was only the Anti-Stealth module 1027P and HIPS module 1027P which have recently been updated and brought exploit detection.

the update module is in beta rather than pre-release.
The download is slow when compared to v4.

Install global hook blocked when I tried to obtain name suggestions in any "file open dialog". Working good here.

Pre-release update servers downgraded some modules, I have ESS 5.0.93.0 running and enabled pre release updates:
Anti-Stealth support module upgraded from 1026 to 1027P
Personal firewall module upgraded from 1069 to 1071
HIPS support module upgraded from 1026 to 1027P
Internet protection module upgraded from 1022 to 1024
    but
Web content filter module downgraded from 1009 to 1003
Antivirus and antispyware scanner module downgraded from 1322 to 1314B

Next time I booted the PC it updated the AV and AS scanner module back to 1322, but Web content module is still on 1003.

Pre-release modules are not program component.

Exactly, they are development modules in testing.

Here a difference between program components and program modules:
    PROGRAM COMPONENTS:
It is a base, which consists of the kernel service and some other components such as filter drivers. The user interface and documentation are also components of the base product.
    PROGRAM MODULES:
A module is a kind of library which performs or provides various functions such as signatures, advanced heuristics/emulation, parsing of compression formats, self-defense, firewall and antispam.

New program components and new program modules could be distributed via:
    1) Installers
    2) Built-in updater
