    Hello,

How so Hammer? I do get confuzzled when I get a false positive website that is blocked. HOSTS? Restricted Sites? Tracking Protection List?

    Regards,

    Nathan

Running too many scanners with real time protection turned on could lead to them conflicting with each other and mistaking each other as malware. That is just one example. There are a lot of people here more knowledgeable than I could ever hope to be on the various possibilities of what could or will go wrong. Running Norton SS, MSE, Adaware, iOBit 360 all at the same time with realtime protection turned on is inviting problems. Ask around, post a brand new thread on critiquing your setup, not a post buried in this massive one and ask people if what your doing is right. Also look at other peoples signatures that list what they use, no one else is doing what you you are and there are reasons for that.

If you introduce a file to your system and both of your scanners attempt to scan it you can have a few things happen...

    1) Neither gets to scan it, if it's malicious it walks free
    2) Both try to scan it and when they fight over it end up marking it as malware when it isn't

As microsoft puts it, running two antiviruses is only slightly better than none at all.

    Hi Hungry Man

Do you think what you've described applies to Norton DNS service and TrafficLight Chrome extension working in tandem, as noted here?

Yes, some of us are counting.
And some of us have run out of fingers, too.

No, I don't think those two will conflict.

:) Does anyone know if TrafficLight for Internet Explorer exists as a browser extension (or plugin), as opposed to the standalone full version (that works on all major browsers)? Thanks!

Edit in: To clarify, I am looking for the add-on version for Internet Explorer. I don't want the full installer.

    Hello,

Thanks, guys. Norton Security Suite and Microsoft Security Essentials are the only two realtime programs that I'm running. Norton has been a lot more active flagging potential malware than Microsoft has. So far, they haven't conflicted, and if they do, I know how to edit the black/white lists in each program.

    Regards,

    Nathan

    No...

just because you can not see them conflicting does not mean that they aren't.

Don't wait until you have a piece of malware on your system to realize that conflicts were going on.

    Just uninstall one.

NRProia you should follow their suggestions
or better yet, learn why and how they don't use any realtime AV at all!

    Keriver Free
    Mailwasher

No third party firewall now. Still haven't had a single threat that I'm aware of. Machine is lightning fast, browsing is a joy and I feel more than adequately protected.

Excellent, I use x64 systems for years without any problem. Your security setting is also excellent, Norton and MBAM are always great options.

Cheers. They run really well together too. Having a backup program like Image for Windows is now the icing on the cake ;)
