I'm getting this error message when starting up Outlook 2007:

"The Add-in "ESET Outlook Plugin" C:\PROGRA~1\ESET\(snip)\EPLGOU~1.DLL cannot be loaded and has been disabled by Outlook. (snip)"

I tried removing the Add-in from Outlook as specified in another thread: https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=287597&highlight=error message addin outlook 2007 (I tried replying there, but it's locked because it's old.)

The ESET Add-in isn't listed, probably because I uninstalled. (It seemed to be causing hang problems on Outlook exit.)

I also tried deleting the extend.dat file as specified in the ESET Knowledge Base, but that deactivated another add-in I do want to use. This still gave me the add-in error message on starting Outlook and created the extend.dat file again.

    How do I fix this?

    Hello and welcome to forums.

Try by reinstalling ESET NOD32 Antivirus. Once reinstalled, are you getting any error message? If not, please uninstall by following these steps.

Hope this helps to resolve the issue.

Yes, I'm still getting the error message.

I tried to use the ESET Start Menu uninstaller, linked as the first step on the page you linked me to. As I was using the free trial, I don't have a username and password. I got 401 Authorization Required and wasn't able to complete that task.

Can you set me up an account so I can get rid of this error message?

    Diana

Please, I need further support here.

I tried reinstalling ESET. No ESET Add-in does not appear in Outlook. No error message is displayed.

As you've specified, I exited Outlook and deleted the extend.dat. This time, without opening Outlook, I uninstalled ESET. Reboot. Open Outlook. Error message.

    Please help.

You can manually remove the key using regedit and going to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Exchange\Client\Extensions. Look for the offending key and delete it.
