Hungry Man, I read your security setup, and installed the Chrome Beta. Is there something to add to have it scan downloads?

I returned to ESET (NOD32 Antivirus 5.0 release candidate), again, after trialing a couple of products again. Namely, Webroot SecureAnywhere, Panda Cloud Antivirus 1.9 beta, Trend Micro Titanium Internet Security 2012, AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition 2011, Microsoft Security Essentials (which wasn't able to install in Dutch for some reason, only in English) and avast! Free Antivirus 6.0.xxxx beta.

ESET just sells the product with the least weaknesses in my experience. Although, I was also pleased with WRSA. I think when ESET launches version 5.0 final I will just use that and stop all the trialing, in the end I return to ESET anyway. I am only in doubt whether I should use EAV or ESS, I don't perceive added value from the antispam and parental control. So I will have to figure out how much added value I perceive from ESET's personal firewall in comparison to EAV with Windows' firewall (combined with my Linksys router). I heavily doubt whether the slightly bigger impact on the system and less beautiful colour scheme (blue GUI and tray icon instead of green) in case of using ESS are justified by the only marginal better protection provided by ESET's personal firewall compared to Windows'.

Nope. It automatically checks your downloads as well as websites for malware.

Great, I was hoping that was the case. Any idea if they have their own anti-malware, or are they using software from somewhere else?

I found this at Wikipedia about Chrome security: Chrome periodically retrieves updates of two blacklists (one for phishing and one for malware), and warns users when they attempt to visit a harmful site. This service is also made available for use by others via a free public API called "Google Safe Browsing API".

That is an awesome feature for them to be adding.
