online banking sbie setup

I need some help.

I just started using sbie so i'm still trying to wrap my head around how to set it up properly. What little tech savvy i had has pretty much left me due to illness...

Anyway, i need to setup a dedicated browser for online banking only. I was thinking of using firefox along with keyscrambler free.

Just the thought of banking online makes me shutter but it will be necessary as i'm relocating overseas and will need to manage my accounts here at home.

I would appreciate if someone could guide me through the necessary steps for a proper setup.

you could use Start/Run and Internet restriction to make sure your browser is the only thing allowed.

but for online banking i'd rather use Trusteer Rapport.
it is specially made for online banking protection.

Yes, i saw this mentioned in a few other threads. Since TR doesn't work with sbie are they both equally secure for online banking or would one be favored over the other?

 

That would depend on what security you implement and your browsing habits, etc.

For example, suppose there's a keylogger in your system. Sandboxie won't be able to protect you. Trusteer Rapport/Prevx SafeOnline would (in theory, anyway).

Suppose you got a clean system. You sandbox your browser, and only allow your browser's process to run and access the Internet.

If you got a firewall with outbound protection, then you could restrict communications to your bank's IPs.

Another scenario. Don't even run your sandboxed browser to access your bank account, while running another sandbox, specially if this other sandbox processes have Internet access. The reason being that a keylogger may get into that sandbox, and it will be able to read from the sandbox where you're running the browser to access the bank account.

 

There might be the option of popping in a Linux disk such as Parted Magic and booting off of that to use its browser for banking. It just runs entirely in RAM. I virtually guarantee no keylogger is going to be lurking in that environment

 

How about using neo's safekeys with hidden mouse and hover entry for banking passwords while allowing only the browser sandboxed with start/run and internet restrictions?

 

whatever you do do not use the Injection Mode method; it is vulnerable to keyloggers.

 

That could be a problem as some sites will not accept "drag and drop" only "injection mode". Was just a thought. Back to square one.

 

Ok. I want to finally give this one a try. After looking around and around to find their full installers, I finally got this link

where we can download the 32 and 64-bit full version (vs their usual web installers).
It's probably old news (sorry if so) but maybe will it be of use for some unfortunate folks like me...

I checked to see if my bank's website had the TD download, they didn't so i went to the Trusteer site and got it. Hopefully another nice option for online banking.

I echo what's been said. I too suggest a Linux LiveCD or Jump Drive.

 

I'm thinking about purchasing SS. My only other security apps are ESS and SBIE.

Would there be any conflicts if i added SS?
