Yes, and I hope it will fix the problem of conflict between AppGuard GUI
    and the AppGuard Service...

What was the reason you stop using it?

The problem with Quickbooks is fixed. still needed to add the quickbooks exe to the Memguard exclusion list, but once down, all is well here.

Once I got money for this kind of stuff I will most probably buy AppGuard. :) I'm convinced enough by reading how it works.

Me too, I would like also to be more user friendly, I'm always installing and uninstalling software.

Some times user friendly can be compromised into anti user friendly. It's a fine line between the two and AppGuard has done an excellent job in covering all bases.

I am also like you though in that I install and uninstall quite a bit

Is there a limit on number of activations for keys if you are activating the key on the same machines over, and over again? I ask because I beta test AG, and I don't want my keys to get deactivated.

I'm really disappointed with this new version as it didn't solve the conflict between AppGuard GUI and the AppGuard Service. What happend is that sometime I am completely locked out of the computer and unable to open any application...

After contacting BlueRidge Support two or three weeks ago, they confirm me by Email it was a known problem and they told me it will be fix in the next release. Unfortunatly I will have to uninstall AppGuard until they fix this.:doubt:

Updated to 3.1.6.0 over the top of the previous release; works great for me.

You should receive a message box informing of a new release, provided that you don't block AppGuard calling home. :)

So which version is it now? I have 3.1.6.0 from the download link above, but have seen two machines from clients that seem to have 3.1.6.2?

At this moment -on- the Appguard 3.1.6.0 works pretty well in a cooperation with the SpyShelter Premium 5.42 in the Windows 7 Ultimate Service Pack 1 (64-bit).

Although I tried to have this run with the Sandboxie 3.57.07, the Sandboxie failed to run. Anyhow, I am glad to see the company of the Appguard keeps good itself with its words.

I've just installed appguard....now this may sound like an odd question...don't shout I'm a noob!:p But is there anyway I can test it via the browser? You see I've dropped the AV in favour of appguard given all that I've read.

I know you can test an AV with EICAR, just thought one of you guys could suggest something that would prove it works preventing browser attacks and put my over anxious mind at rest.

I suppose you could try installing something when settings are at 'high'.

    Hi Eirik

I've discovered the bug I reported on Quickbooks is alive and well. Will email later.

One easy question about Appguard, since I have never installed it I would like to know if it will give many problems or inconveniences, or any annoying stuff for a user (me) that is always installing and uninstalling programs and changing things.

    Thanks in advance

It does interfere a lot if you're uninstalling/installing programs... but that's what AppGuard is there for; nothing can install properly without you allowing it! There is a 'install-mode' which you manually have to set before installing/uninstalling something.

That all? just changing the mode? so using the common software there is no problem after install it?
I will install it one of this days to how "annoying" is :D

That is all. :) In previous version of 3.x, install mode wasn't working with some Windows updates (malware removal updates) and with some more advanced installations of software. But in the latest version, the developers have improved it a lot!

Well I have installed it and this software is making me to read the manual to see how it works :D with AppGuard the learning process of try and error does not work :doubt:

But If it's as good as seems it will be a good time spend in reading. :thumb:

Would be nice if the software where able to detect the installers in the user space and ask you via popup if you want to enter in the install mode.

    EDIT:
I understand now how it works, anyway is like a control executable but much much more advanced and cool (I mean that you have to decide what to allow to run in a normal mode and what not)

    1) Can anybody tell me which kind of apps (other than the default) he adds to the guarded list and with which settings? do you add other security apps?

    2) What is the value of the privacy mode, why firefox is gonna want to access to a folder defined manually with personal information? shouldn't be a malware doing it? how firefox is going to know about the existence of this folder... I don't get this I think.

    3) Can anybody give me an example of a legit memory write process?

    4) Which kind of app should have the memory read blocked?

    5) Why I'm getting this messages?

    08/25/11 20:28:09 Prevented <Webroot SecureAnywhere> from writing to memory of <Firefox>.
    08/25/11 20:28:09 Prevented <Webroot SecureAnywhere> from reading memory of <µTorrent>.
    08/25/11 20:25:09 Prevented <WMI Provider Host> from reading memory of <µTorrent>.
    08/25/11 20:25:09 Prevented <RapportMgmtService> from reading memory of <µTorrent>.
    08/25/11 20:39:32 Prevented <Firefox> from writing to memory of <Windows Explorer>.
    08/25/11 20:39:30 Prevented <Webroot SecureAnywhere> from writing to memory of <Firefox>.
    08/25/11 20:39:26 Prevented <Windows Problem Reporting> from writing to memory of <Firefox>.

µTorrent is excluded from the user space and is not in the guarded apps
How I can allow to webroot (or Windows Problem Reporting) to write in the memory of firefox and the others to read the memory of µTorrent?

    08/25/11 20:40:46 Prevented process <Plugin Container for Firefox> from writing to <c:\windows\rescache\rc0005\rescache.hit>.
Why this was prevented if it's not a private folder?

    more:
    Thanks in advance
