I tried ByteHero again today, thinking that I wasn't quite fair yesterday:

1). This program is not malware. Period. I set both the scanner and the Protection Mode at the highest setting.
2). I chose 5 trojans from my testing this morning, and 1 java exploit. I did a "Quack Scan" on the folder containing the 6 and BH said all was well.
3). I then ran the Exploit. BH scanned it and let it through.
4). I ran a trojan downloader. BH scanned it, let it through. Looking at network traffic I now had many connections to Eastern Europe.
5). I ran some Ransomware. BH scanned it, let it through. A few seconds later the machine rebooted and the usual Russian alert came up and the computer was rendered useless.
6). Does anyone blame me for not starting over and trying the remaining 3 trojans?

There are many very good antimalware programs on the market, some of them free.

ByteHero is not one of them.

All shields were maxed out. The Ransonware can be considered a very harsh test as it gets by most Security apps, but the Trojan downloader fail is just inexcusable. This application is Junk, pure and simple.

I have used many times and I do even now for cleaning many of my client's infected systems. Its also been in Ako's free software list over here. I thought many of you might be knowing about this software. Its only for malware removal(yeah it does provide realtime protection via BSD) but its mainly used in post infection systems. So I guess these test doesn't give any idea of this application:cool:

    regards,
    icr ;)
