I am also abandoning Shadow Defender Forum as it seems that it is just a vehicle for spam now. Thanks to everyone who has supported Shadow Defender. Hawkwind and myself I put this on the Shadow Defender forum before I left.

"This is my last post as Global Moderator on this forum, The forum is not functioning properly, has no admin, the spammers have taken over and I find that I can not trust anything about it anymore. It's a real shame because Shadow Defender was a great software and had a loyal following.
The developer and admin of the forum Tony has been missing for some time and now it looks like the forum has been hacked.
Do not expect this forum to function as it did originally or be run by the same person. We've all tried our best to get to the truth and we hoped to see the software progress but it is too late now, all confidence has been lost.

    best wishes

    Patrick"

ps, I would advise anyone who is currently a member of the SD forum to log in and change your email address in your profile to some other just to be safe.

Thx two both ShadowDefender Mods for your great work and that you keept us always up to date!!:thumb:

Although it seems to be sad that SD is dead (at least in development, let's enjoy as long as it works) - it is/was a great piece of software !!

Let's hope for the dev Tony that nothing real horrible happened to him and that he is ok as person. Things happened with SD and SD-site in last year seems too strange, left too much space for speculation and confusion.

Thx for that great piece of software! - I hope someone will sometime release a similar solid one (for me there are no real alternatives atm)

Hello, i have a bit strange problem with Shadow Defender v.1.1.0.325 32-bit.
When i log in windows and hover my mouse at shadow defender taskbar icon it disappears. When il run the shadow defender from dekstop icon i see taskbar icon come back and shadow defender GUI flashes and shuts down. Shadow defender taskbar icon stays, this time il hover my mouse above it and it disappears again =/

Using Windows 7 SP1 32-bit fully updated. Other security software installed: DefenseWall Personal Firewall v3.15, Webroot SecureAnywhere v8.0.0.7 + Windows firewall is active, windows defender is disabled.

Anyone of you have had this kind of problem before? o_O

I did disable every program etc. before installing.. ran ccleaner etc..

*EDIT*: Never mind, had weird glitch. Everything works smoothly now, great product :)

Yes, I've had problems in the past (when I was using Window 2000) with disappearing icons, icons that wouldn't appear after installation and also icons that didn't connect with the program, I wrote to Tony straight away after release and I think that was one of the reasons that he did a quick update to 1.1.0.325 (within the same day as I remember)...it was released as the same number, so that is why the confusion arose around 1.1.0,325.
I also had a major problem later when I installed a version of Shadow Defender (1.1.0.323) on recommendation from somebody on a forum; It wouldn't install fully (but left icons) but then also stopped me from fully installing any other version except after that except 1.1.0.278 (very stable)
Yes that was a very strange period for me and Shadow Defender and Tony was "missing" by that point.
Maybe try 1.1.0.278 if all else fails. I can't remember if the icon problem was fully fixed. I run 1.1.0.325 happily on an xp with no problems as yet.

    Not Found

The requested URL /phpbb/index.php was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Shadow Defender forum is no more?
Spammers nest is down for now, lets hope someone is actually doing something for Shadow Defender.. It's shame it's in a crippled state. :(

a good alternative to Shadow Defender is an image restore.
i can restore an image in less than 4 minutes.

not as fast as SD, for sure, but fast enough to be used as a "boot to restore" program.

Restoring a disk-image in 4 minutes is nowhere close to the norm - imho an ISR (such as Rollback Rx) is a more appropriate (and much faster) alternative for SD. But certainly disk-imaging is a necessity with any of these products.

it can be fast if you keep your data on another drive/partition and use a secondary internal drive/partition for imaging and restore of images instead of a USB drive.
and if you use a imaging program that does not drag its feet. ;)
i use regular 7200 RPM drives.

if you have enough money to use a SSD drive i imagine that would be pretty damn fast. :)

i used SD extensively in the past until i started tweaking my imaging workflow for speed.

Faster and more effective than any AV full-scan!

I'll test Shadow Defender in Windows8 to see if it still works:D

I still do not understand what problems are Shadow Defender v 1.1.0.331!
    I checked:
    1) installation kit (download Softpedia):
    a) VirusTotal: http://www.virustotal.com/file-scan...3123a4956e5217a53ecd442343adc9c523-1316075960 - rezult: 2/43
    b) Scan the following program: Malwarebytes'Anti-Malware, Superantispyware, HimanPro and Dr.Web CureIT - not infected
    2) program files after installation:
    a) VirusTotal:
    - Commit.exe: http://www.virustotal.com/file-scan...530c7c81c28008700bfd684b71c6ad1ee1-1309342556 - rezult: 0/43

    b) Scan the following program (File Folder "Shadow Defender"): Malwarebytes'Anti-Malware, Superantispyware, HimanPro and Dr.Web CureIT - not infected anything
Everything is fine! What problems are still?

Simply because this version came out of nowhere. Also has no changelog, so why risk it?

    Thanks!

I've tried Shadow Defender .325 and it seems to work fine in Windows8:)
The installation went fine, without any problem. I turned on shadow mode, and then created some files and shorcuts in the desktop, and a folder in program files directory. After a reboot, all the new files, shortcuts and folder i created were gone:thumb:

I installed 1.1.0.331 on my new computer last April rather than move my existing V1.1.0.325 from my old computer. I have not experienced any problems.
