This has been reported since day one. They don't care.

I tried their software and learned the same lesson. :ouch: Bad image indeed.

It has auto pilot which attempts to make things easier for the user but seems abit restrictive in a sense. I preferred the different modes available in BD 2011.

It is advisable to install a trial version first before purchasing for your home computer as each machine is different:)

Well. I am sort of impressed with BD IS 2012 over the 90 day trial of BDTS 2011.

    Things of note

Even with just protection against Fraud & Phishing on, the browser search is still slow in 2012.

Full system scan has got slower, although the system is scanning at 65-105 files a second - TS 2011 scanned my system in about 50 minutes, BD IS is about a 50% slower the total time for the scan was 1hr 32 minutes for 109gb.
Outlook is still slow to open with the antispam module. however the scanning of emails is quicker.

The first auto scan found a trojan generic 6374880, in wmpmetwk.exe which is odd as the previous BD TS had not. I would think this was a FP.

BD IS 2012 records all the DNS server port scans in events, however you can only turn off/on the port scans and not set it to ignore your DNS.

A good thing is that BD IS is light on my system and does not delay startup. depending on your system that is. Updates are quick and un noticable.

Playing games with game mode set on makes for Sluggish game play. There is no change in this from TS 2011

Do I buy BD IS 2012 from downloadcrew for £7.99 (73% discount) and put up with the bits that I don't need, or do I look elsewhere?

It still comes with the sluggish anti phishing module.

    Hi,
I search in BitDefender 2012 for disinfecting option like 2010/2011, (Move to quarantine, delete, disinfect...)
Thank you for showing me this.

EDIT: It's a bad news for this version of BitDefender, it doesn't exist...

I guess you mean the AV part or BDAV, I downloaded the BDAV some days back just to give it a try and I didn't find any problems with maneuvering daily stuffs. They have really improved in terms of performance. IMHO I didn't find it sluggish or bloatware.

    regards,
    icr ;)

It was the problem that forced me to uninstall BItdefender.
Sometimes it flagged some files as a virus and just deleted it without any option to restore. That's unaceptable for me

Download the trial, and it really smooth on my system compared to previous 2011 version.. but...

    - no newbie/intermediate/expert interface/settings?
    - auto-deletion of "malware" seems quite..annoying, it just delete my "so-called-virus" files just like that, no quarantine or at least a backup
    - the "anti-phishing" bar on top of every page is annoying..wonder if they fixed this already.

It seems they can't "fix" the auto-delete AV. It's reported several weeks ago.
    Legit files get deleted. :D

Maybe they are planning next mass file massacre a'la BD style. :p

Now that some time has passed. All those who put their hand up to try Bitdefender what's your opinion? I see its only scored 8 supporters in the current ISS poll. But TopTen Reviews rate the AV #1 & ISS #3.

I used their AV for 3 days or so (i know, not that much) and i find it very light, fast and hassle free. But the lack of copy to quarantine before any action and various advanced setting that were available in 2011 version made me to uninstall it and look somewhere else.I really don't understand why they dropped so many advanced settings in this version and to be honest i think they lose many (advanced) customers with this.

Looking at the forum, the program is still buggy. Also seems Bitdefender is starting to amp up support as forum only has 5 pages. Uninstalled the AV since I had trouble exempting web pages from web scanning.
