I found that changing the heuristic to hiigh will increase false positives. I had three with the settings to high upon intial installation.I have since lowered to medium for all and it's been quiet since.IMHO the defaults or near defaults seem to be better balance.

Sandboxie you can use with WSA but you wont get the protection of Identity Shield and I use WSA and LNS without issues!

If I uncheck "Fade out warning messages automatically" in Settings, will the Authenticating Files pop-up stay on long enough to establish what it's telling me? Or if not, is there any other way of achieving this, please?

I have the setting that you are proposing and I still get the Authenticating Files pop-up staying visible long enough to understand what is going on.

Hot ripplin' rattlesnakes...I was messing with latest System Explorer, and selected "show items in tree"(if that's what did it) and all of a sudden when I opened FF on Ixquick I've got the lock (nice new larger design) on the tray icon. Not certain if it was System Explorer that cleared this up, but think it was
and glad it's now sorted. :)

I recall Joe has explained that the heuristic in WSA is more sensitive than in Prevx 3. I was used to have all heuristic on max. but in WSA I also keep the default and having no issues.

If I select "warn when new programs execute that are not trusted" does that mean the heuristics are disabled? Is it more secure with this setting, or not?

I have them all set to Max but it's the only AV that I'm using! But in my VM's I use it with VIPRE AV Only without issues and all to Max!

Sorry for the lack of a response this weekend. I've been out of town and am catching up on posts now. I should have everything answered in the next couple hours after a few meetings :)

Prevx 3 should block this - I will be checking that the P4 database covers it as well but I suspect the VT scanner is just incorrect because of the limitations in its scanning.

We default back to being protected if we aren't sure if it is protected or not (just to ensure you don't lose protection when switching tabs). Bad sites are still scanned even when protected.

Scanning with the right click scanner is now much stronger (equivalent to normal scanning for static files), although it still isn't as strong as realtime executions or behavior lookups.

Could you let me know the paths/filenames of your other browsers or if you're using a custom installation (or portableapps installation?)

    Thanks!

I've found the issue here and will have it fixed in the next update.

Yes, we agree - the Windows firewall is actually very, very good at inbound protection. We looked originally at writing a similar protection engine but we didn't want to reinvent the wheel. WSA does provide significant monitoring and filtering for outbound connections on top of what the Windows firewall provides and it uses cloud based firewall logic to help determine what is/is-not malicious.

We'll be extending these functions in the future with some additional configuration (blocking specific ports, blocking services, etc.) but those are quite technical features which aren't a very high priority.

You may want to use it with another AV during the beta while we finish the protection routines.

Could you let me know what settings are not being remembered so that I can try to reproduce it here?

    Thanks!

:D And we're still trying to make it smaller/lighter!
