So far I'm very impressed with the beta.. Very light and with great features.

But I have a question... Is it safe to use WSA standalone, or should I use it besides another signature-based AV?

And another thing.. I've noticed that the settings are not always remembered.. Is this a known issue?

I'd say it's perfectly safe to run it on it's own. If you're unsure, change heuristics to 'warn when applications start that are not trusted'. That way you're very safe.

it can be used in both situation, but actually i will recommend you to use it alongside another one until the final release.

I recommend you to use it alongside another one even after the final realease. This will greatly increase the security of a pc.

If you want to use it alongside something, just use it alongside Windows Defender :D. That is the best solution performance-wise.

Windows Defender is a bit heavy though, isn't it? :)

If I had to run something beside WSA it would be MBAM in realtime IMHO! ;)

Good to keep as standalone when you are connected to internet 24X7;)

Whenever you try to change any setting do you get a popup of entering a captchao_O

Good point as captcha is not on by default! It's under Settings>Access Control Tab

I think your corrrect and I should have mentioned I have windows wall on.Now that you mention it,It makes perfect sense as Webroot firewall for untrusted or malware trying to phone home can be blocked by WSA Wall.

It's still hard to believe that they put all these features in a 567kb download which runs 3 to 5MB in memory!

Yep me to and most other security apps with this amount of a feature rich program is much larger and much more heavy.Very clever :thumb:

I have a small issue... Since installing WSA, Windows doesn't always shutdown properly (it gets stuck at logging off).

I have run into a problem with the System Tools/System Cleaner. Even after I go into the Cleanup Settings and tick/untick my choices for cleaning and then save it, and then I run the cleaner but it does not do what I just set and saved in the settings. It seem even if I untick some items so they should not be cleaned, they are still cleaned anyways. It seems the saving of the settings works, it is just that unticked items are still cleaned.

Could you let me know which settings you're changing so that I can try to reproduce it?

    Thanks!

Are you seeing this happen every time? Could you try shutting down WSA before shutting down your OS and see if that improves the behavior?

i wasnt sure till now, but ive noticed that ever since i installed WRSA my firefox has been crashing pretty frequently, at least a few times a day id say. I wasnt sure if this was a conflict so i removed avast but its still happening and it is quite irritating.

I am going to say its most likely a conflict with other security software. I had that same problem and it turned out it was Panda Cloud and Webroot conflicting. With both installed at the same time the machine was unable to shutdown.

Judging by your sig its most likely because of the Panda Cloud/Webroot conflict.

Could anyone having shutdown issues see if disabling/uninstalling Panda or shutting down WSA before starting the shutdown of the OS corrects the issue? We've had several people report this so far but we haven't had any luck reproducing it yet.

    Thanks!

Joe: I'll confirm that shutting down WSA first, then shutting down system is very fast indeed. For the last week or so, been getting the black screen on shutdown about advising waiting for "an application to close". But today, decided to see and sure enough, shutdown was QUICK after closing WSA first. Advise.
