Sandbox is an extra unnecessary feature. Same with Desktop Gadget. WOT isn't necessary with URL Filter. No need for bear icon eye candy. Panda URL Filter needs to be separate from toolbar. Scanning speed needs improvements. I don't use Scheduled Scans, which may appear during a bad time. Process and Internet Monitor can be put on the website. Never heard of Xandora. Password Protection is sorely missing and very essential.

Panda Cloud does not provide an expiration date from within the GUI, but it will warn you when it is coming close to expiration. ;) The expiration date is labeled in your user account page (where you entered the license).

    To "start over"...
    1) Login to the forum and scrolll down.
    2) Release the license and click "Save Changes" (do not delete). Re-install PCAV.
    3) Once you get to the Free/PRO selection window, follow this tutorial.

Agree with everything except the sandbox part. In this day and age, some sort of virtualization is a must.

Panda AV/IS include sandbox technology. Panda Cloud is a separate product line from the paid product line, and with a different goal.

If you want multiple layers of protection (traditional detection, browser sandbox, vulnerability scan, etc), buy Panda Antivirus PRO.

Well if that's your argument, then a user should just use basic MSE. Panda is trying to produce a top of the line free AV, and they obviously realize the importance of sandboxing, or they wouldn't have included it in their vote. Several companies offer sandboxing in their free programs, so this isn't unheard of and Panda knows this.

Which one? The poll going on now? That was started by Dark-Lord.

But yes, pbust did start a poll a few months back that included a few features and it did include sandbox as an option in the poll. But he said "in the near future" quite a few times. :) You may be right that they will add one, as the polls have shown. I do not mean to quarrel with you. ;)

Maybe we might see a sandbox in 3.0 or somewhere along those lines. I just don't see a sandbox being added in 2.0...and its hard to explain why. :doubt:

In my opinion most cloud scanners keeep a very limited database when you are offline. I think that (correct me if I am wrong) if malware knocks out your internet connection your cloud scanner will not do much good.

Panda Cloud collects a small cache of virus signatures (for malware most commonly found in the community). The cache is updated every time it successfully synchronizes with the cloud.

Panda Cloud also includes heuristic detection, behavioral blocker (in Free) and behavioral analysis (PRO feature). Plus it disables autorun, and allows you to vaccinate your USB drives.

I've never used cloud av's before. Does it scan files based on other users opinion ?

I think he means is the scan result based at least in part on whether a high percentage of Panda users reporting a particular file as bad or good.

I am pretty sure this comes into play but Panda has a very extensive malware base just on its sigs.

    HEADS -UP PANDA !!

InfranView Thumbnail Viewer is using a cute little black and white Panda as its logo, tray icon, and short-cut icon..

    http://70.154.102.35/~mtsouth/irfanview/IrfanViewLogos.jpg

Presenting an interesting trademark question. Does Panda's Trademark cover only security software or all genres of software.

Protect your trademark or lose it.

btw as far as I know HEADS-UP PANDA is not related to KUNG FU PANDA.

I don't like bloating programs into suites (unless you can custom install components), and Sandboxie/Comodo is enough for me.

@hawki Judging from the screenshot, there is no trademark infringement. They look nothing alike.

They look nothing alike, so there's no threat of anyone stealing a stupid image of a bear.

I dont know, after farting around with a host of products of late, this one keeps drawing me back. Maybe because it is so simple to use. It is a keeper.

I really have to admit that Pandas detection rate, blows me away. I have been throwing crap at it all afternoon and only one got through. The Pro version is staying on, I now have time for better things then wading through my AVs GUI trying to figure out what happened today. Thank you Panda for simplicity.:thumb:

Panda has made huge improvements over the past year. I'm not sure why people bother with HIPS, etc. when you can use something simple like PCAV that will protect you from 99.9% of the stuff out there.

I am anxious to test the 1.9.1 beta when it is released, to see if the disk io is improved.

totally agree clocks. Some of this products are almost dumb-founding with all the settings that mean nothing to the average lodore. I mean, the reality is to sell a product to the average lodore, you better keep it simple and for the product its self to be able to maintain without user intervention.
