I have just the one laptop, Dell Inspiron 1545. It's running Mint 11 currently with Xfce.

My room temp ~30C

I know how to monitor just two temperatures using applets:
libsensors > temp 1
and udisks > dev/sda

temp1 (CPU-related?) is currently ~52C with only 5 tabs of Firefox running. It can go to 65C if I'm converting .flv to .ogg using Audacity (or VLC). It can go as low as 42C.

udisk (which I assume has to do with the hard disk is generally ~50-53C).

 

mack_guy, I don't think you need to get too paranoid, for a laptop they don't seem unusually
high.
My desktop readings are of course lower ...

That's (relatively) pretty cool while you're DL/UL torrents.
What is/was the ambient temperature if I may ask?
Any tweaks to power settings or the kernel on Arch?

-If all folks could post their ambient/room temperature also, it would make for easier comparisons.
For all I know you're running 'pretty cool' at 55.0°C while currently in the 44.0°C Sahara...
