Good question, I am still a bit sus re this deal.

You know the old saying, if it seems too good to be true, it probably is.

Someone needs to confirm how to upgrade to 2012 before I remove Kapsersky from my computer. From what I have read 2011 is too buggy, especially with W7 64. Not worth the risk.

    Thanks

I bought the $9.95 AV only, I then downloaded the trial of the 2012 version, inserted my key and it works perfectly!

Installed BD TS 2012 on my computer using the license I got from the 2011 version. It will prompt you to uninstall 2011 first if you have it on the computer.

    Ok thanks

So all I need to do is install the Trial Version of 2012.
I also assume I can wait up to 30 or days before using the key?
    What is the trial period?
May as well get an extra month or two for nothing.

Also, can someone please provide a LINK to the Total Security 2010 version? I am in Australia and all I seem to be able to access is a Beta Version of 2012.

    Thank you

Yes installing the trial for 2012 is all you need to do, during the installation process it asks the user if they have a product key they'd like to activate or if they want to use the trial.

Not sure if the countdown for the key you purchase starts as soon as you receive the key via email or whether you use it. There might be more information on the BitDefender forum.

I am a bit confused sorry.

My last question was related to 2012.
All I can find is a BETA version of 2012.
Is that all that is available?

If that is the case, then I will stick to the 2011 version until the final proper version (NON BETA) of 2012 comes out.

If a proper verson of 2012 is available, please provide a link as I cannot find it.

Oh well, for $9, I am leaving Kaspersky at least for one year!
We will see how it goes over that year and then I can decide for myself which one I prefer.

    Thanks

Yeah, the last silly question I have then is, can I use the TRIAL version for the trial period and activate the product at the end of the trial period, or do I need to activate now; i.e. do they start counting from the day you buy it, or when you activate it? I would assume when you activate, but maybe that does NOT apply here, given that it is a special promotion? I don't know.

What an unpleasant experience I've had with this software (Total Security 2011) this morning. I shelled out my $9(!), got my registration immediately - and then the fun started. I cannot remember when I have had so many issues installing and configuring a programme. Too many issues to itemize here but on two Win 7 PCs (64 and 32 bit) neither installation failed to finish without repairs, the initial scan failed to finish and hung the machines, realtime protection would not start, updates failed to download and install, prompts to uninstall a number of semi-security progs, browsers failing to open, startup progs throwing up exception errors, etc.
Now uninstalled on both PCs which are back to normal.

    Hope I can get my $9 back:D

Got one. I couldn't pass it up. I know that some people have been having issues with it but I'm more than happy to take a chance. I'm hoping that someone can find out when the clock starts ticking on the license.

OMG, should I take the risko_O
Not worth the hassle, I am happy with Kaspersky.
I also remeber trying to use BitDefender about two years ago and when I tried to uninstall it my computer went beserk! Never happened to me with Norton or Kaspersky.
Makes me doubt what these guys at BitDefender are up to.

    Two days to go.

Anyone know yet if the key starts when you buy or when you activate?

I am going to leave until the last minute to buy.

If its when you activate its a great deal. Purchase a 3 user license when there's a version of BD that works great.

I am sure that the key you buy will NOT last forever. From the sound of things, it will work with 2012, but I am sure that if you hold they key for more than one year it will not work when you try to activate.

The upgrade is only promised with 2012 and if you do not want to use that, do not buy.

Personally, I think I am going to give it a go. I will intsall trial version of 2012 and then simply activate using the license key at the end of the trial period.

Good Evening ! Just purchased a license for 2011 and downloaded trial version of 2012 Bitdefender Internet Security, inserted the license key and I'm good to go. If the product is free of bugs this will make it One Amazing Deal. Many thanks for the heads up info. And as a foot note the GUI too my eyes is a Vast Improvement. Sincerely...Securon

BitDefender 2011 brought my Win7 box to its knees. Installing it was a nightmare. Uninstalling it was also a nightmare. I'm unwilling to go through that again....
